Information 1.4 Petrol "Sticky Valve"

A friend has an early 1.4 petrol (single coil pack), which runs OK, but has been diagnosed as having a non sealing valve in one cylinder. Before considering taking the head off, would it make sense to remove the cam cover and, hopefully, see what the cause of the valve not seating is?
I have no knowledge of the 1.4, so a bit of insight would be greatly appreciated.
Mac.

Good morning Mac,

Trust all is well with you. There has been a bit about this on here recently and I think that the best man for the job will be Gary at B&F Autos in West Hounslow. Cracking A2 Specialist and does not charge like a "wounded rhino".

Not connected, just a happy customer.

Best wishes,

Simon

Cheers Simon. I am OK thanks, you too I hope!
I'll point my friend in that direction. Good to meet you at Duet, and I hope to meet up again soon.
Mac.
