What sort of MPG have been people been achieving with
their 1.4 TDI's.

Also a question to people with computers fitted.
What MPG would the following constant speeds achieve

60, 70 , 80 and 90 MPG

I got 50 mpg using half a tank mainly motorway driving over varying speeds.

My car has only completed 4,000 miles so far and so may not be completely loosened up. I am now averaging 55mpg on my normal motoring which comprises an 8 mile trip to work and back each day and numerous short local journeys. A recent trip to Newquay in Wales returned 62mpg whilst maintaining normal traffic flow. I have just travelled from the Midlands down to the Social at Folkestone and back at around 80mph and returned 56 mpg.

I have DIS fitted but differing driving/road conditions can give a very different consumption reading at any constant speed. I expect to achieve in excess of 60mpg at a steady 60mph. I know some other owners have acheived high 60's mpg on long runs.

My previous car a 1.9 diesel VW polo was approx 10 per cent less economical during the winter months. I dont know if the same will be true for the A2.

Not precise figures but I hope this helps a little.

My first mpg check was a trip to Devon, mainly motorway at a constant 65-70 mph (I'd got plenty of time, but I could'nt be bothered to check it coming back) with light traffic and no headwind to speak of was 66 mpg. I would guess that my general average day to day will be around 55mpg.

i have a 1.4 petrol. I used to drive from salisbury to richmond a lot last year. I think its around 80 miles. mostly main roads with little traffic, or motorway, so travelling pretty much 70 to 80 all the way. It vnever cost me more than a fiver each way, so about 1.4 gallons. which works out at 56mpg. For a petrol!

I to went to the social and did 402 miles and didn't fill up till I got home and then could only squeeze 30litres in. It may be a small tank but its got alot of miles in it (70-80mph) This is was 60mpg.

Just waiting to fill up for the 3rd time, but for the first 2 tanks I was getting 49 mpg. This is on a 33 mile journey Saddleworth to Leeds city centre and back, mornings are bad as the first half is at 70 and the second half can be in 1st gear, evenings much better 70 to 90 (oops - well its done 1000 miles now) going with the flow of the traffic. I would hope to see an improvement over time with the engine relaxing and my petrol on or off driving style changing.

I've had mine since Sept 02 and done 4500 miles, only a few long runs and my journey to work is 3 miles. I haven't reset the DIS since getting the car and I've averaged 48 mpg at 27 mph.

Thanks for all the info.

I'm averging approx 50mpg, but that has been with the webasto or aircon running and a traffic prone 12 mile run to work. I expect this will improve in the summer.

16000 miles from new and exact records kept. 58.7mpg, that's 4.81 l/100km.

Fuel consumption improved from new and levelled out at 4000 miles, that's 6000km.

Typically 62 mpg in summer, 57 mpg in winter, mixed driving. Can achieve 70 mpg plus in summer driving at constant 55 - 60 mph. Although excellent, have never matched the official figures for the A2. However, my (new) 2.5 TDi Allroad actually beats official figures even in winter. Not sure why one Audi does and the other doesn't!

50000 km / 31000 mi (first service coming up)
overall average 65 mpg, 4.3 l/100km - but I'm going to do better this year.
That is the official average, by the way.
Best I ever got was 3.81 l/100km (74 mpg), not too far off the promised best 3.7 l/100km (76 mpg),
worst was 5.7 l/100km (driving in the South of France at 30°C, aircon on and never beyond third gear),
exactly what Audi promised for town driving.
