1.4 tdi sport ride hight

I had Koni Fsd's and weitec springs on the front and i still got the crashing effect as the shocks bottomed out, i want to get rid off the lot now and go for something else, something in between OE and -30. So i wanted to know what is the ride height of a standard sport setup ?

Don't quote me but from what I recall standard is 35 - 36 cm from the centre of the wheel hub to to the bottom of the wheel arch. So the sport would be 34 - 35 cm.

As reference me standard SE on knackered springs/dampers is sitting at 34.5.

Cheers,

Thanks guys, i need to find some front springs that are not as low as the weitecs...... Any suggestions on or should i just stay OE on this?

I don't believe springs with drops less than 30mm are in production, at least I didn't find any when spending way too much work time searching the web. Eibachs did do a 20 mm drop but they are no longer available. Humps has a set fitted.

I already mentioned in my PM that the weitec springs on the front with standard rear sport springs will be fine with B6's.

I have B8's with FK springs you get a great ride hieght / stance.

I dont really know why your looking for springs with less drop? and as above you cant really get any which drop it less than 30mm

John

Just for clarity, the 30mm drop is in relation to the OEM SE ride height. As the Sport springs sit about 15mm shorter, any -30mm springs will only give a further 15mm or so lowering beyond the OEM Sport ride height (provided you're not using FSDs!).

Exactly Dan_b

I did advise in a PM that you can run B6's or B8's with FK springs or B6's with weitec front and sport rear and you get a good outcome.

At the minute FK springs are being sold off at £20 a set instead of £90, which is a complete no brainer in my eyes.

Sorry if i didn't explaine properly john and your advice has not fallen on deaf ears, but i was hoping to get a spring that was in between the OE sports and the Weitec's i already have. I still get the scraping on Weitecs whilst going over sleeping policemen etc. Then if thats the case i will just stick with a brand new set of OE's and slow down over humps a bit more. Just a little frustrating to have to slow down to a near stop whilst going over these things without damaging my car.

thanks again John.

I dont quite get you mate.

You cant really blast over sleeping policemen anyway without trashing your car, thats why they are there.

If I go fast over them it makes a nasty clank / crash sound mainly cos Im probably trashing my suspension, and my front bushings are shot, but going over them normally I dont get any scraping etc and Im not sure how you have gotten that with FSDs and weitecs as my car sits a lot lower than that setup :S and I dont get scraping at all :S

The A2 doesn't go well over speed bumps, full stop. You do have to slow down more than you would in most other cars. I did find it improved with the FSDs but it's not like driving a French car :)

.

Was this when you had the old leaking FSDs fitted? The lack of damping would probably have been the reason.

Or how about, if fitted, mudflaps? with it's 34.5 ride height mine scrapes them over some sleeping policemen.

Once they new FSD'S and Weitecs had settled down they scraped the mudflaps and under belly, so i would end up approaching the humps from an angle. I think just sticking to OE springs like john said would be the right option.
