1.6 Petrol Manifold Clean and Repair.

Crgwal

A2OC Donor
Scotland
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on this forum would be able to help me get my Audi back off of its engine light and basically give my engine some TLC.

I need to remove the manifold and clean it out as is common with petrol engine on the A2. I also need to replace my cam shaft sensors. I believe I would want to replace all sensors in and about this repair while the engine is in parts.

What I'm hoping is I'd get all the parts, which I have already started. Pull up to someone who understands this job and come back in a week.

Who if anyone in Scotland or even north England perhaps. Can I leave my car with to do such a thing from here. And at what cost?

I don't know if I trust leaving this job with someone unfamiliar with this car, or perhaps I am being nieve?

Any feedback would be appreciated, sorry of I have not been clear enough on specifics

Hi @Crgwal
Is it an 1.6 FSI? Guessing it is...
Edit:
Ahh just read your post again, and silly question wasn't it!
Have you had it scanned with VCDS?
Mac.

Hi we are in Motherwell , if we can help with anything , more than happy , we do all our own maintenance in house , thanks Robert

We are not a commercial garage , we maintain and repair our own fleet and close friends vehicles , we have an affiliation with local MOT stations , and have direct accounts with TPS and all the other merchants , we are on the final leg of our own on our 1.6 Fsi , which included manifold refurbishment and more than happy to assist , best to determine exactly what's needed before any works commence , as one thing can lead to another very quickly with this perticular engine

Not looking great, i just replaced the Camshaft sensor at the top of the engine then ran the computer through it again. The misfires are new errors.

Is there a second camshaft postition sensor? I cannot seem to locate it.

Only 1 cam and crank sensor.

PS cam and crank correlation means the timing is out. Or maybe the cam sensor, also only use genuine cam sensors, I’ve had that fault using an after market one

Well the engine light has at least gone off.

I used a Bosch, didn't want to spend anymore on an Audi OEM. (There was some other aftermarket one in it before)

Well my Bosch camshaft sensor failed after only 10 or so miles...will replace again but seems odd

Why are you sure the sensor has failed? Can you check the sensor in isolation, ie off the car? Measure it's resistance for example.
Mac.

Hmm I will give that a shot I have a multimeter around somewhere. Connections around the sensor do 'look' sound.

I'm sure because the car EML went on again and at the same time the engine needed turned on at the ignition up to 10 times again before it would start every so often.

When I first put the sensor in, the engine would start noticeably easier and did so every time. At least for the few miles I did. With my side job I start and stop the car a lot. And it was doing well, until a point.

I will pop in one more sensor and see if I got unlucky but I don't really expect a Bosch sensor to fail quite so easily.

Thanks for your continued input on this!
