I notice on the Audi UK used car site that 1.6 Sports with the odd extra are going for as little as £14,495.

I take these to be ex-demo. Imagine the poor sod if the traded-in. They would have been offered £12,500 I would imagine.

Are these A2's not holding up Audi's promise of residuals?.

Hi, after discussing with my dealers about the A2's depreciation and why it drops so much as soon so quickly, he kindly explained to me that its the VAT you lose on the car as soon as it rolls off the court, so your cars actual valuse is something like £12,500 but plus VAT bumps it upto the £14,000 and as they have no control over the VAT you cannot get it back in any shape or fomr, so as soon as you buy any car you lose your VAT as soon as the wheels have left the court. just my 2p.

Audi A2 1.4SE 2001, Brilliant Silver, Rear electric windows and Panasonic MR555 (rubbish) stereo, 2 extra 13" 190watt speakers (plus the standard 8 from audi).

Forget the VAT for a minute, because I believe the real issue of contention is that through advertising it was said that the secondhand value of the car after 3 years would return at least 50% of its original value. The truth however looks more like a 50% loss being encountered within the first 18 months (or less). That is the worry.
