1.6FSi - is it supposed to run like this?

Hi bought a 2004 Storm with only 6800 miles on the clock a few weeks ago.

It seems very flat below 2000rpm in any gear and almost hesitant at times.

To better the economy are they set up to pick up after 2000rpm or is it a trip back to the dealers for them to have a look under warranty?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Fill it to the brim with Shell V power. My 1.6fsi had a simillar problem when i ran it on ordinary unleaded. Give it a tank or 2 to settle down & I think you will find it is fine.

I always have that problem when the aircon is on! It seems to drain the power.
I have started to live with it now but a pain in town in the summer when you have to consider switching off aircon just to pull away:(

Super Unleaded is a good idea but not for the wallet.

I also have the same problem. I tend to use ordinary unleaded and find that it is quite sluggish to pull away. I guessed the problem could be the quality of fuel I tend to use, but with petrol prices these days I have got used to its sporadic tendencies.

Hi Guys

Had a A2,1.6 FSI loan car while my A2, was in for warrenty repairs.
When I took it back, I comented on it lack, of power, and non acceleration.
The reply came back how meny reves did you put on? 4800 reves is when the engine changes over from high effency, to high power.

Seems like 3000rpm for my car... When it hits 3k it really goes... But below 3k it burps... Sometimes its not bad at all... but other times its really bad like the exhaust was blocked or something... Anyone know why this could be happening???

Yeh V power is more expensive but the extra couple of MPG you gain through it operating more effeciently offsets the extra cost. I couldn't believe it was purely low grade fuel that caused mine to underperform but it is a completely different car on optimax / V power, responsive, smooth and quick.
