2 stroke oil in diesel...anyone tried it?

So I been using 2 stoke oil in my diesel for over a month now so I thought its about time I give some feedback. With in a couple of minutes after the first fill-up I noticed the engine running much smoother and quieter. I think it vibrates less also. Some other thing I noticed is that since I started with the 2 stroke oil I have not been needing to top up the oil anymore. Im not sure its related to the 2 stoke oil but its one of the things I have noticed. Im not sure about its effect on the MPG but I think even if there is one its hardly noticeable. I will continue using 2stoke oil because it much more pleasant to drive.

I use the ratio 1/200 of Castrol half synthetic oil. This is the oil I been using, according to the info posted earlier I think its spec is OK for this purpose.

If you are from sthlm, sweden I highly recommend you use ARCHOIL which can be bought at archoil.se and its a good replacement for your 2-stroke oil in the fuel. Ive used Archoil for a few months now and with great results on both my rides. A2 TDI90 and my Volvo V60 Hybrid.

Maso I wouldnt mind giving it a try, unfortunately Im not in sweden right now. But I will try it in the future.

Last week I filled the tank with Shell V-Power Diesel Nitro+ to clean the system a bit after a few months with Shell Fuel Savers Diesel and 2SO.

I skipped the 2SO in this tank. When the tank was finished I checked the oil level and it was around 1cm lower then before and i immediately thought it looked a bit darker then before. So Im starting to suspect that when I use the 2SO it reduce the oil consumption and saves the oil a bit. Do anyone noticed this?

Sojah fell upon this eBay listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281278698440

£38 per 6 litres = £6.33 per litre. That's a good price.

6 litres is enough for approximately 900 litres of diesel. Therefore roughly 30 or 24 full tanks of fuel, depending on your tank size.

Cheers,

Tom

Im still recommending Archoil's AR6200!! Cost maybe £60 but 250ml will last easily a full year. I have used Archoil AR6200 now for almost 11months and saw a big change after 2tank.

Google Archoil AR6200 and you will be stunned by what it can achieve. I now use it on all my 4 cars and can vote that its way better than 2stroke oil.

I use it on my;

BMW 330xd '10
Audi 1.4 TDI90 '05
IH Scout II 5liter V8 '76
Peuget 205 T16 Dimma '89

All 4 cars became much more settled and went smoother, easier starting off on cold engine, less engine vibration, diesel rides proved a lower fuel consumption.

Even Jay Leno uses this stuff on his +150rides. I do anything Jay Leno does

Has anyone bought any 2t recently? Im struggling to find anywhere that sells the item especially in larger volumes...

Cheers

Over on Caravan Talk forum this has been a hot topic recentlywith a member from the petro chemical industry getting hot under the collar saying Archoil and 2SO is all bullocks. Same thread also goes on to suggest all diesel is the same irrespective of brand name or additives so just buy the cheapest supermarket fuel.

I know for a fact that Archoil did work magic for my A2 TDI90 and will continue to use it. On my almost new bmw 6cyl diesel i didnt notice a difference using Archoio but will continue use as preventively caution.

My A2 shakes & vibrates, much better cold starts in general. Got more power & i can now drive on lower rpm without the car shaking into a frenzy forcing me to change down a gear. Lower fuel consumption etc etc.

I do wonder if the benefits are less on more recent engines with more sophisticated fuelling systems? I agree on an A2 the benefits of 2SO are amazing however when used on my FL2 and A6 the improvement in mpg and other effects is less obvious.

Its just lubrication and cleaning or to you and me the additives,
all diesel is the same,Always get a dpf light on with supermarket fuel,Nothing for two years with bp fuel when I used it.
Some of our trucks are Euro 6 but you couldnt get ULSR diesel they sound like they are running backwards with all the Injectors knocking :)

I thought I'd just add in my experience on this..

I am always quite sceptic when it comes to magic add ons and I have also tried Bell Add products in my Touran TDI without any noticable effect, but after reading this whole tread I though, why not give it a go.. Not least because I still have some good old Castrol XR77 mineral two stroke oil left over from my bike racing days.

My '02 TDI has done 217.000 km, and it did feel quite rough and had that hard knocking sound even when warm, and even more so when cold or idling. So I filled it up and added 300ml of XR77.

For the first couple of hundred kilometers I couldn't feel any changes what so ever, but after running through half a tank of fuel it was quite noticable that something positive was happening. And after finishing the rest of the tank the changes are simply remarkable..

First of all the the engine runs so much smoother, without much of the shakes and vibration it had before especially on idle and low revs. Its much more quiet and that really hard knocking sound has been replaced by a pleasant subdued diesel tone like a newer engine. It has more power and pulls much better and cleaner from low revs with shaking and stuttering, and the fuel economy is the best I've ever experienced.

Even when cold it settles right into a smooth quiet idle, and generally the car is so much more pleasant, powerful and enjoyable to drive. Much like a newer generation diesel car.. I am so happy I decided to try this and I am sure the engine is too, and it should be the perfect preparation for the re-flash that's coming up in a couple of weeks.. Should make my car even more enjoyable and fun to drive..

If anyone with a TDI A2 has not yet tried this little magic trick I can only recommend to give a try and be amazed yourself..

Alex.

My litre of this just arrived, I was impressed by your very useful feedback and so I am hapy to try in my remapped 75 and my wife's 90.

I never expect miracles so I will try to give a balanced review and hopefully it will match Alex's.

As long as it makes even a small improvement I will be very happy.

Thanks Steve,

I will look forward to hear your impressions on this little experiment.. I ran out of XR77 and currently using a lower spec two-stroke oil, but it seems to work fine.. I am currently giving my other A2 the same treatment, but still on the first tank full. The car had been sitting unused in the cold winter weather for 6 weeks while we were on holidays down under, but she started right up and settled into a nice calm idle..

What I should have done is to get my black A2 dynoed before the two-stroke oil treatment and then again after a running through a couple of tanks of fuel. That would tell me if there is a measurable difference if power.. I did have my silver A2 dynoed after using two-stroke oil for about a month though as part of my reflash, and in complete stock form it made a very healthy 79 hp and 210 NM of torque with a very smooth power curve. But how much of that was due to the two-stroke oil treatments is impossible to know of course..

Well, I have tried it but not yet used a full tank.

I put some in "the Project" and also some in my wife's TDI 90 and also in the grandson's 229,000 mile tdi when it comes back from the paint shop (not a full respray, just bonnet, front bumper and driver's door). The bonnet suffered the worse lacquer peel I have seen (Red Audis do suffer from that a LOT). so it will be nice to see it in its fully "tarted up" condition.

WIth "the Project" I have not yet done enough miles to judge it yet.
With the wife's 90 I have used about half a tank.

Now I am more than aware of "the placebo effect" and so I am judging this as a "non-believer" so the "rose tinted glasses" are off.

Even bearing this in mind, the 90 is definitely quieter, especially noticeable when starting from cold.
Performance wise all I can say is that it is no worse and just MIGHT have made a slight improvement, but I will wait until I have used up a full tank.

But it is worth it for the reduction in "diesel knock" alone, and even if the improvement in running is a placebo, that is still worth it!

So it looks like it is, so far so good.

This is nowhere near a scientific experiment, it does not need to be, if I perceive an improvement, then that is good enough for me.
