2020 Socials

Teresa

Social Secretary
European-Union
The first day of spring, so the perfect day to launch the A2OC Social programme. Below is a list of our socials so far - we are always looking to increase the variety and geography of our socials, so if you either know of an event that would be a good one for the Club to attend, or you would like to organise one yourself, please get in touch with either Ian (Proghound), or Teresa

The list below gives a bit of information and also hotels so you can get booked in/buy tickets.

We will put a detailed post for each event up as we get more detail – if you are planning on attending Audis in the Park or VW Whitenoise, tickets are available online now via the event link

We hope to see you during the year.

Our first social of the year is a meal at Duet Restaurant at Fort Dunlop. Always popular, you have a choice of Indian or Italian food. This year is a little bit special as its gives us the opportunity to say a massive thank you to Mike and Yvonne as they retire from Social Secretary duties

We usually book the table for 7pm and meet near the cars for a natter between 6 and 6.30 weather depending.

For anyone staying in the hotel there are normally a couple of us in the hotel car for a drink to catch happy hour before 6

Hugely popular in the East of England, this Festival is back after a 1 year break.

It is a new event for A2OC and mainly VW, but one of the organisers is an ex A2 owner.

This event will be a little different for us as it is a music festival with Judge Jules headlining on the Saturday night. We will also have some meet ups and trips outside of the festival so it is very flexible – come for a day or a whole weekend.

Cost – weekend tickets are £45 for adults, £20 for 13-16 year olds and free for 12 and under. This price includes camping Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Day tickets are available - Event post up soon with more details

In reference to the above, I’d like to thank Teresa for pulling this detailed list together.

When I posted the thread last month announcing Mike and Yvonne’s impending retirement, I spoke of a seamless transition for members. I am pleased to announce that Teresa and Ian (@Proghound) have kindly stepped into the breach to co-ordinate the annual calendar and directly run some of the events.

Please join me in wishing them good luck for this year and beyond and thanking them for the additional responsibility they have taken on to ensure the A2OC social scene remains a business as usual activity.

Brilliant can get some dates on the calendar, especially Kimbolton, we enjoyed that one a couple of years ago.
Also intrigued by possibility of Scotland in June, we couldn't make the Scottish trip last year due to other commitments.
Keep up the good work and here's to a good year of A2 socials.
???

I'm still assuming Alumni will still be welcome ;) although I will unfortunately miss the Spring meal @ Duet because i'm planning on being in The Canary Islands. I'm sure Ian and Teresa will do as awesome a job as Mike and Vonnie.

Good Luck T and Ian! ??
So pleased you're taking on the job and we get to meet up at these fantastic events. Again the A2OC family at it's best...
I have quite a few events in the diary and will confirm attendance ASAP.
Little Barry is away at the moment. He didn't like me going to Australia for 8 weeks and so his brakes needed to be stripped and sorted.
The handbrake was off. Bricks behind the wheels. But he showed his feelings...
Thank goodness I have the Rover 75 too. It wasn't fussed. I think it hibernated awaiting my return...!
See you all soon XXX

As you can imagine with the latest Government advice on social gatherings there may now be question marks over the shows that A2OC planned to attend into the early Summer (as well as the North Wales club event at the end of May). We will be liaising with the show organisers in the coming weeks and will keep you updated.

It'll be a pleasure to meet you and your A2, look forward to it :)

I do apologise, I missed this!

How things have changed in the two weeks or so since you posted it: nevertheless, sooner or later the storm will pass and we can go bonkers catching up with everything. As it happens, it's a fantastically gorgeous morning out there today. The sun is still shining.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well.

As we know, sadly our social plans this year have been very much affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic. I have updated the list with the latest cancellations. As it stands at the moment, we have a very tentative date for the postponed Stanford Hall and the end of season meal which will probably end up being the start of season meal and the end of season meal all in one. We will try and fix a date for this soon and hopefully you will be able to join us to say thank you and goodbye to Mike and Yvonne as they stand down from their Social Secretary roles.

The cancellations of some events do mean that we have some dates for 2021 earlier than we would (AITP and Whitenoise Festival being two that have already set dates for next year). Therefore we will start a thread for 2021 Socials soon for those of us who like to plan ahead. As the lockdown reduces we will also look at whether some socially distanced local meet ups may be possible safely at some point this year - please keep an eye on the socials section!

Love and hugs and stay safe
Teresa

Thanks Teresa. To keep the social mood alive during lockdown for regulars and new members alike we will share weekly images from past socials on our Facebook page. Also please feel free to share your favourite images from socials on our Covid 19 thread. Stay safe everyone ?
