I doubt this. I switched from 95RON petrol around three years ago, and there was no change whatever in my closely monitored economy or the performance.

Am a great fan of Tesco which is ideed E5.

I don't think I've come across E10 in Northern Ireland, only E5

The article you linked to does conclude, "however, high-octane unleaded is known to have a greater effect on heavily tuned and turbocharged cars like the VXR than it does on lower-spec, naturally aspirated models."

I switched to using Shell V-Power in the belief that it would keep my engine internals cleaner, but I had also hoped that the economy would improve. So it was a slight disappointment when my mpg figures remained unchanged.

I now use either V-Power or Tesco Momentum; beyond keeping clear of E10 I like the consistent quality that using a premium fuel provides.
