3L starting problems!

Hi Guys,
I am stuck. The 3L now refuses to turnover. There are no error codes and all looks good, ignition goes on, but the engine does not try to start when the key is turned to start. Any help or direction would be great.

Here is a little history:
I bought the 3L as a non starter.
1)The initial disclosed issue was in the ignition key barrel - the finger at the end of the barrel that turns the switch had broken. I replaced the finger part and the 3L started great...
2) But the car did not turnover when you first jumped in the car. After trying to start several times and about 15 secs, it would start fine and restart fine - I noticed the interior light did not come on with the drivers door. I found that the door loom was disconnected just under the bonnet handle - great. Reconnected and the pump whirred into life when the door was opened and the car started great...
3) Generally noticed an illogical behaviour in Stop... sometimes it started sometimes I had to go N to get it to start... - noticed that the handbrake did not show any warning lamp when engaged - quick look and the switch was disconnected - reconnected and that is working great...

...then on testing that the car would start in Stop...

It does not turn over in either Stop or N. I can hear the pump ok, the ignition lights all come on, no error codes returned. The Hydraulic oil is good. The gearbox will switch up and down gears in the +- position. The brake lights come on ok and the green brake symbol goes off when the the brake pedal is pressed.

Any help would be great.

Starting in Neutral but not in Stop is a sign that the potentiometer of the clutch actuator is approaching a terminal state. In your case it seems to have done so. Send the electrical end to Mankmil on the German forum and he will replace it with a Hall detector sensor; this is a non-wearing part. English is fine. Once fitted, you will need VCDS to give the car a basic setting.

Hi Rab,
Thanks for the rapid reply... so when terminal it will not start in Neutral either?

And any ideas of contact details for Mankmil,

and can you recommend a VCDS?

Thanks again Rab!

All I can say that I did put in a lot of time in the hydraulic system. If any parts are needed. I have a lot of spare parts left.
