A polite request regarding Pro Boost

Morning all

I have a request regarding the purchase of ECU’s direct from Pro Boost.

Adrian (Owner of Pro Boost) is very happy with the arrangement he and I have with me distributing his ECU’s in the UK. With one ‘but’; he regularly gets contacted by A2OC members looking to import the unit themselves as one off purchases. The cost of doing so is far greater as I will highlight below. As a result, people are complaining that they can get it cheaper from me and are bartering with him on price.

The price of the unit from me is just over 300euros, and this includes postage on to you.

The price from Proboost direct is:

300euros for the map,

50 euros to have the immobiliser removed (which you will need doing unless you send your original unit)

30 euros postage to Germany

30 euros return postage to UK

Total 410 euros

I get the units cheaper for a number of reasons, but its mainly because I buy on mass and have negotiated free removal of the immobiliser.

Adrian has made it very clear to me that should the requests for discount continue, then in order for people ordering direct to feel they are having a fair service, he will not drop his price, but will put up the price per unit to the UK via me.

This isn’t me concerned about my bottom line, I get a very small percentage for distribution, I just don’t want the service to A2OC members to have to end.

There will be another batch (much larger hopefully 10) heading over to Germany in March and returning in May, so the service should now be resuming following the pause after Brexit.

Stick in there, more units are coming ?

Don't forget the cost and complications of customs duty rules if you are importing yourself. Would be much easier to use A2steve service

I suspect that folk started to do their own thing when Steve temporarily stopped importing them due to the 'Brexit' rules and extortionate import duty

Cheers Spike

Those "Brexit" rules/duty can't be that much of a problem, as the Komfort Blinker purchase via ebay.de illustrates. If a non UK seller really wants to supply UK, they can. I don't know the details, but Cum- Cartec clearly do.
Mac.

There’s a price cut-off. Things below a certain value, such as a single Komfortblinker, do not incur the duty. However, anything above a certain price point - such as a ProBoost remap, or a couple of Komfortblinkers packaged together - incurs a hefty fee.
Having spoken to them extensively on the topic, I know that Brexit has been a nightmare for CumCarTec. It has decimated the UK-side of their business.

Cheers,

Tom

For me I can't understand why anyone would not go through A2 Steve ? His advice, parts service and knowledge is second to none.
In the spirit of A2OC and to ensure its longevity it's a no brainer.
Shucks ☺️

It’s having to register my business for an import and export licence number. I just don’t need the hassle. Also don’t forget that even 4 units have a retail value of almost £1000 so the import duty would be high when I’m getting about 10% of that value as commission.

As it stands I’ve now got a reliable source for import and export with no hidden fees, other than a well earned Christmas present ?

At work, we export and import pretty much every day. Right now, there is one country within the European area where we absolutely do not know what will happen when we ship, and that is the UK. Rules move, they're differently applied; without an EORI (that would be the import / export licence stuff listed above) high value goods are not even accepted. And then the rules will apparently change again in January.... our ship time to London has gone up from 1 week to around 3. I can get stuff to Singapore and Dubai faster and with a similar amount of paperwork compared to London.

Cut off is only about £130 before everything gets more involved!
