Been looking at buying an A2 TDi, just wondering is the £35 Road Tax on models after a certain year?

the A2 ive been looking at has a bench seat (dont like em) , would i be able to swap it over with the ones in my car quite easily???

The bench seat option and 'standard' two seat fix swap is definitely a 'non-starter'. The floor pan is completely different - Chris, (ULP), and I have tried. This would be the same for any other rear seat combination.

I'm the second owner of my car, and I bought it from a friend. He told me that the car was originally the two seat version, but he got the bench seat fitted later (and in red leather too!) so a swap must surely be possible?

I very much doubt it, however, if you have the data sticker, send me a list of the 3 letter codes at the bottom and I'll decode them to see what it left the factory with.

Cheers,

Mike

Okay, I've found the sticker. Does each set of letters under "OPTIONS" represent a different option? Anyway the letters / codes are:

EOA OGE 4UE 6XC 5SJ 6TS
1KB JOR 1LY
3FF G08 7XO 4R5
FOA 8GU 0G4 0YK L02
TOU 3NK 8BF U0K X2B 1N2
2PU 9Q2 8Z5 M6F
7QO CC3 4X1
3L3 4K4 501
1SA VV0 Q1D 4GH

Mike, I can email a photo of the sticker if that helps. Thanks

Hello Graham, thanks for that. It appears that porkies have been told as the car left the factory with a bench seat (3 seater):

E0A = no special edition
0GE = emissions concept EU 3
4UE = airbag for driver and front seat passenger
6XC = outer rear view mirrors: powered
5SJ = outer left rear view mirror: convex
6TS = outer right rear view mirror: non-spherical, large viewing field
1KB = drum brakes, rear
J0R = battery 380 A (80 Ah)
1LY = disc brakes, front
3FF = roof inserts, twin sliding glass sunroofoperated electrically
G08 = front shock absorption
7X0 = without park distance control
4R5 = power windows with comfort operation andcircuit breaker, mechanical window regulators rear
F0A = no special purpose vehicle, standard equipment
8GU = alternator 140A
0G4 = cable gearshift
0YK = weight category rear axle weight range 10
L02 = suspension range 02
T0U = components for, base engine, unit 045.B
3NK = rear seat bench/backrest, one-piece double folding
8BF = halogen headlight for driving on the left
U0K = instrument insert with clock mph speedometer

1N2 = power steering electro-hydraulic

CC3 = alloy wheels 7J x 17 nine-spoke style, offset 38
4X1 = side airbag front

501 = code not found :-(
1SA = without additional engine guard

Obviously, check the code for 501, I suspect that the code should read 5D1 = carrier frequency 433.92 MHz

Cheers,

Mike

That's great. Thanks very much for the information! The car was bought from a very genuine seller (my wife's boss!) so I'm sure she did not tell "porkies" intentionally. She must have just meant that she had specified the bench seat option.

Thanks again. The forum is a fantastic source of information!

Graham:)

P.S. You're right, 5D1 (not 501)!

No worries Graham, I am not casting aspersions on your wifes boss and their account, only referring to the original post saying that a bench seat was fitted later - it wasn't, according to the options data.

Cheers,

Mike

PS To anyone else wanting to know if their A2 is EU3 or EU4 for congestion purposes, check for the codes 0GE (EU3) or OGG (EU4)
