[SOLVED] A2 1.4 tdi 2001abs lights!

Hello guys.

I am new here and hope stay for a long time. My car suddenly when you are driving or even shem start up sometime the lights of abs and asr comes on with 3 beeps.

Sometimes the car just drives fine. Also temperature gauge stays on 60 almost all of time. Rarely goes 90 and then it drops to 60 in a couple of min.

Another thing is that ac fanner act weirdly sometime. (maybe is something related)

Temperature gauge issues with Tdi cars are very common. Thermostat and / or Coolant temperature sensor need to be replaced (my car required both). Not a difficult job.

Random warning messages can sometimes occur with a weak battery - has your battery been replaced ever? There are also a lot of minor sensor problems that can cause the ABS / ASR lights to come on intermittently so perhaps we need some more information to be able to direct you where to look.

Just checked the battery and it looks fine.

Now when I looks with VCDS on engine unit the coolant temperature seems rising when I was in idle goes 45-65° in a couple of mine.

When check from instrument (VCDS ) it shows 42° and barely moves 42 - 44.

Is there any fuse for this?

This is a classic sensor symptom.

The coolant sensor has 4 pins corresponding to two channels that send the same data independently to the ECU (VCDS engine unit reading) and the dashboard (VCDS instrument reading). Both can fail independently - in this case it suggests that the side of the sensor that sends instrument reading has failed, so the sensor will need to be replaced if you want a temperature reading.

there is normally an error message for something like "Coolant temperature sensor, open to ground, sporadic" or similar in the instrument ECU, and maybe even in the engine ECU fault codes.

If the instrument reading is correct but the engine unit side has failed, you have poor fuel consumption because the ECU assumes the engine is cold and adjusts the fuel mixture to accelerate "heating".

Secondly, returning to the ABS / ASR lights - my partners car (1.4i) does this sometimes when there is an air leak into the engine (oil cap loose, cracked air pipes, etc. etc. etc.) and the fuel mixture is confused, with errors such as "Intake manifold pressure sensor implausible value, sporadic". The car still drives normally, but with all of the lights on until you can stop. The ABS error reads on VCDS as "Engine ECU fault", which you can clear. Then you need to switch the engine off and on again and the error goes away. Replacing the oil cap helped.

I am not certain if you get similar faults on the Tdi - my Tdi car gave an ABS / braking fault light sequence once - I had no brake lights at all as one bulb had blown, but the car detected a brake light switch fault as a result. Replacing the bulb fixed the problem. I know the brake light switch isn't perfect but on this occasion the car became slightly confused.

Thank you for replaying.

So the coolant temperature sensor must be replaced?

And for the ABS it goes just randomly while you are driving quietly when it comes on with sudden brake and vibration at any speed.

Is it possible that this can be caused from comfort module because have another error 01336 active too.

Or maybe rusty pins from modules under carpet? Any advice before I open it would be great.

To me it seems you have a problem with the sensor G202 as you show on the second picture. This will likely give you three loud BEEPs and the ABS and esp lights on.
I had this happening too, but in my case it was the G200, which is the "brother" to the G202 if I am not mistaken.
Exchanging the G202, situated deep down in the center console, seems the way to go to fix the BEEPs and lights.

Found this too: https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/yaw-sensor-g202.32625/

Said that becuase sometimes it works with no problems, and the 3 beeps doesn't lights up. Sometimes managed to erase the DTC and sometimes can't be erased.

Along with this the ac gives some troubles too. The speed of blower jumps with no reasons. This problems is sporadically too.

Thought that might be something wrong with electronics under foot carpet!!!
Also, the engine temperature needle is acting weirdly. It doesn't move for a period of time, then after 30 min or 1 h drive it goes 70-90 and then on starting position again.

Before digging out the yaw sensor, use VCDS (licensed version) to check the sensor itself. If it's out of range, carry out a basic setting on it.
It's cheaper than buying a sensor you may not need
Mac.

When it works the sensor reads correctly.
Please help me how to do basic settings. What channel should I enter and what steps please?

What does comfort module control?
Because opened today and found some dirt under carpet. It seems on winter the water has entered from the hole below.

Does it have any relation with yaw rate sensor and the code 01336 with this part?

Any advice is appreciated.

Tried basic settings but only G200 shows up for basic setting. G202 isn't showing!!

I changed my G202 yaw rate sensor back in 2012 and found no calibration was needed

Cheers Spike
