A2 2002 1.3 petrol intermittently goes into limp mode - then it is okay after re-starting???

So lovely to meet Lucinda and her lovely chap on Saturday.
Here are the results of the scan.
The Abs sensor light was flashing (and had apparently not done that before), so I did suggest taking the drivers side wheel off and checking if the wires had worn (my 1.4 had previously had similar issues and that was the problem there).
@LucindaLee - how was it on the way home? Did you manage to have a look behind the wheel?
Just a personal thing. There is a "Copy" button on the results screen of VCDS. If you press it the whole report is saved to the clipboard. Open MS Notes, (or better, have it open already), and paste, (Cntrl V), the report in. Save the txt file. To share it on here print it as a pdf.

Afternoon Mac,

There is also an easier way of adding a scan to our pages using the code function.

I’ll add an example down below but it still utilises the copy and paste you mention.

If you type you message of introduction on the post then where you want the scan report to appear just type [ C o d e ] with no spaces. Then simply paste your scan report after the word code inside the [ ]

Code:
Everything I type (or paste) after the code will be displayed as you always see on the Ross-Rech forum. You can end the way this message is displayed by adding another code at the end inside the [ ] but you also need to put a / before the C of code

Hope that makes sense

Kind regards,

Tom

For clarity, here's where you find the 'Copy' button in VCDS:
Using 'copy' with VCDS.jpg

I normally paste the result into a Text or Word file for starters.

Teresa, I'm not clear whether you just scanned the car once, or whether, after the first scan and the clearing of the faults, the car was taken for a short drive and then rescanned?

Although given there are so few faults it's not the end of the world.

I can see that this is a 2003 model year car.

Fault 17961 is the issue that is causing the car to go into limp mode. Barometric / manifold pressure signals implausible. I suspect that one of the valves is sticking intermittently.

When was the air filter last changed?

The EGR valve may need cleaning.

What oil is being put into the engine on its annual service?.

If the fault remains intermittent, Lucinda probably needs to switch to Shell V-Power and drive in a lower gear.
I did scan, clear, then run the engine again followed by a second scan, but didn't have time to do a drive unfortunately

Mac.
Thank you! I was wondering about that

I can also see that the car has the earlier AUA engine. This means that it has the single Bosch coil pack and four ignition leads.

That's very useful. Thanks.
Mac.
No problems Mac,

There is also a short cut on the forum software available to code in transcripts or scan:

Tap on the ellipsis (3 dots) in the red box and it will expand the options. The simply tap on the sign in the green box and it will paste in this wherever your cursor is:

The cursor will automatically be inside the code function, just tap Cntrl/Cmd V (if you have already copied in the first place) and ythe contest will be entered within the code. The novelty of using the shortcut is that its an icode and doesn't display the word code in red like my earlier post.

Just like text here

Apologies for the thread swerve Lucinda @LucindaLee but it seems a logical place to mention it whilst we discuss adding scans to posts.

Kind regards,

Tom

By the way that manifold pressure warning will cause an abs warning or can do as the manifold vacuum is used for the brake assist.
