A2 3D Model

Hi,

Does anyone have a 3D model of an A2 I could use to do some aerodynamic flow simulations?
I saw some different aero mods people had done and thought it would be interesting simulate some undertray shapes, rear wheel spats, wheel spoilers, etc.

Probably a bit of a long shot, but most of the stuff available online seemed to be aimed at animation so I was dubious about their accuracy.

I haven't been through this link myself, but it's a start I suppose.

Cheers, I think I've come across references to it before, but not seen the whole thing, it's got some interesting tests

Some more information that I've managed to find online:

I work at Coventry University in fluid dynamics but this project was done before I joined. I can ask around but I doubt I'll be able to get anything.

If you're looking into CFD work, perhaps start with the Ahmed body?

I had a similar look online for models. The changes you'd model would only be an approximations anyway, so perhaps starting with the available models would be fine?

I was also tempted to download Polycam on my phone and try that. That's a 3D scanning app to build your own model, but would likely need a lot of tidying up of whatever is generated.

Yeah I think I’ll probably try an available model but thought I may as well ask here first.
My experience with photogrammetry doesn’t make me particularly optimistic, but maybe some of the apps that use the lidar sensor in the newer iPhones might be a bit better perhaps.

Thanks, I’ve not done any CFD before but Solidworks Flow simulation package seems fairly simple, at least for basic stuff, so I was planning to play with that as I’ve got Solidworks student edition through uni.

I might try some smaller sections in isolation, which would give an indication of if a mod would have a positive or negative effect but not show how much it improves overall aerodynamics.
The Ahmed body looks interesting too, presumably used for a similar thing, testing general ideas in isolation? I’ll have a go at playing with that I think

If you're into Computational fluid dynamics you would have to start form a very accurate 3D model, ideally a 3D scan. I have bought few A2's 3D models for Architectural visualizations purposes but only one seems "fairly" accurate. They all fail on details like the rear spoiler, bonnet grill, alloys and other bits...

The grills aren’t too important, as I’d blank them off. If I include open grilles in the simulation then I would also need full radiator and engine geometry which I don’t fancy trying to add in. Possibly something similar for the alloys too.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much was the decent one you bought? I’ve seen them ranging from very cheap but shockingly bad, right up to several hundred quid for much nicer looking stuff
