Hi everyone we have just joined the club. we have just brought a Audi a2 1.4 se aua engine code with a stripped cambelt (the smaller one) as it turned over with no noise. i decided to ask the garage to put a new belt on and see if it was ok! he did and lucky enough it fired up and sounded great but there seems to be a bit of hesitation on driving the guy in the garage said it was missing so he changed the plugs no better he suggested getting a new coil pack, but the coil pack looks like new. so we decided to get new leads first and try that no difference:( it is ok first thing in the morning for about 2 miles then it starts to hold back. i was going to buy a code reader but i have little or no knowledge of computors so thought i would ask here first:) i went to gsf to price a coil pack and the lady suggests it could be the throttle body? i dont mind buying parts but i dont want to go over the top. any help on this issue would be greatly recieved thanks in advance botsdad

Jason,

You're very welcome. It was great to meet you both. You should have an email with your scan output and the fault code explaination.

Hope to see you both again.

Cheers

Jeff

Wow, that's good service, well done Mustang-owner!

In case other have similar symptoms could you tell us what the problem/fix was?

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Well I'd like to be advising all is now well due to my vast technical expertise.....however.........

in truth it was just a scan, clear all fault codes, test-drive and re-scan to ensure still clear of fault codes.
There were engine control module and misfire on cylinder 3 DTC's stored that may have influenced the general performance prior to the clearing, but I'm not sure.

I think we were both surprised that the car drove well after the scan.......I'd like to put it down to the £330 Genuine VCDS, but who knows.

I've recommended a compression test to verify cylinder 3 isn't suffering from a bent or cracked valve or damaged valve seat, but for an X reg 1.4 petrol the engine was very quiet and smooth.
A good oil flush and re-fill along with replacement filters should see it good for a while to come.

Cheers

Jeff
