A2 harlequin Colourstorm - A2Steve

Awesome idea Steve, personally love a Harlequin.

I now on the Mk3 Golf platform it was made to attract people to the VW stand at shows and like you said promote the colours available.I believe it was originally meant to be a run of 50 cars but at the show alone they had deposits for 250!!

Love the direction of this!

Thanks Tom, TT has now sold by the way, had strong demand for it and it's going back to it's previous owner who regretted selling it.

As for the Harlequin, it will happen, but the pool of cars and parts seems to be getting smaller, so i can see it taking years at this rate to find all the panels in the right colours.

I was hoping this thread may have surfaced a few doors, but nothing as yet.

If you are going Harlequin on the outside, then surely you should do the same on the inside as the seats and various trim panels were available in reds, blues etc. as well as the standard twist/platinum/soul options: -

Then you just need to Harlequin your headlining

Cheers
Simon

I would certainly use different colour colourstorm seats in it.

You might end up making 4 Harlequins at the same time Steve. At least you would have all the panels etc then

I'm happy with the Harlequin exterior, but not the interior. The driver and passenger environment should be calm, not like explosion in a paint shop.
There are, or should be, limits. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Just my opinion, off course.
Mac.

Steve,

Happy to donate a pair of Azure Blue Rear Doors if they are of use.

The colour and logistical challenge may well put you off but they're here if need you want.

Kind regards,

Tom

There will be Audi s in the park and a vs show near you in August so someone could maybe transport them back to Steve or at least meet him closer to home. Just a thought if he's interested in them.

Great idea Mark,

Club logistics have always amazed me at how helpful people are.

Totally up to you steve.

Thanks for the offer Tom, doors aren’t an issue, I have an endless supply really, it’s Colourstorm ones that are going to be the hard ones to find.

What about seats like this!

1. YES
2. YES
3. I literally wagged my finger at the posts and shouted "YES!" for a good minute
4. Since I gathered the goal to be to keep the colors within the A2 family, may I suggest the missing hue could be Iceland Green? It strikes me as not that far off the Pistachio Green it corresponds to.

Regarding the production figures, a little bit of a "well actually" I hope no one takes at heart:
VW showed the Polos, which piqued interest, so they said "Sod it, we'll make 1000", and before they could finish the sentence, they were all already sold, so they said "Ok, let's make some more", and they made more, totaling the production around 3800 units.
Then came the yankees, with the Golf (since I do believe the Polo never sold there), which did not have quite that much sense of humor and ended up only ever mustering up enough interest to get 250 made, and barely that - and some of them are known to have been repainted in their original colors by the dealers to move them out the lot.

Does it at all show I am excited about this project?

Saw this Toyota? Today...it reminded me of the A2 potential project...
Will you believe me if I tell you I swung my fist in excitement?
This was the - well, perhaps the worst looking body style available for the E110 Corolla, which was the car my parents had when they drove to the hospital with my sister... and returned with her new brother!
As a result of that, and of how dutifully and tirelessly it chugged everything thrown at it, I am pretty sure I'm in the top 10 worldwide in terms of people excited about this car... mainly because of the complete lack of competition - it was a car literally designed to be bland and we all know how good Toyota is at its job.
