A2 in 'Top 100' German Cars

No. 19
Audi 100
Boasting the most effective aerodynamics of any production car, lightweight construction, flush-glazed side windows and the option of four-wheel drive, the Audi 100 was an understated trailblazer of its day.

According to Wikipedia, the Audi 100 had a drag coefficient of 0.30. Well the A2 has a coefficient of drag of between 0.25 and 0.29, depending on the specific version. Maybe the article meant that the 100 had the best drag coefficient of it's time.

How boxy many of the old models were, and some still are, like the Golf where the back is still squarish in my mind. Porsche are the exception of course, they always seem graceful.

I think it a most amazing piece of machinery especially in 1.4 TDi (90BHP) mode; now on our second but with hands on 3-others it's a 100% love relationship with this amazingly good motor car

Daughter has a High up,whats not to like?
60+ mpg,£172 for three years with servicing included.
Heated seats,DAB,sat Nav and after running an A2 she found it cheaper with the Up!

I like the VW Up. It reminds me very much of the VW Lupo in dimensions and we,ve had a couple of those in the family. I know its replacement "The Fox" was cheap and cheerful but it couldn,t match the Lupo on build quality. Its good that VW went back to the "tried and tested". The GTi Lupo,s still command a very high price tag along with the Tdi sports. :)

I was wrong, the Volkswagen up should definitely be considered one of the most iconic, innovative, and quite obviously remembered as setting the standard in small car design. I'm sure the number fifteen place in that very well considered list is well deserved.
Btw it's not a patch on the Toyota aygo

She drove all sorts lachlan, she was very disappointed by the c1 and the aygo this was the 2014 models.
The yaris was out of her reach.
The Ka which I thought would have done well wasn't liked either.
She did like the Fiat 500 but not the kia picanto or the i10.
The twingo looked great but depreciation hurts it.
The mitsubishi didn't cut it as it was 120 quid to tax and the corsa mpg was compared to the city cars horrific.
It came back to the seat/soda and the vw up!
She's tried everything as it's look a lot and buy once.
Will probably get an Auris once she gets her dog.

I reckon I will buy her up and let someone find my A2 in a barn one day as lovely as it is its not getting any younger.

Merry Christmas.

The vw up ! is number 15, what's that all about ?

It's a fantastic car, it's most likely my next car when i give up the A2... i test drove it once and for a small car it really is impressive, nicely designed dashboard and ride quality of a much bigger car.
