A2 locking

Hi, just bought second A2,
It keeps locking, even when it's locked and key out? I walked past it last night and it's forever clunk clunk as tho locking itself although I'd locked it and the key was indoors? πŸ™† My battery is going to drain..? Any ideas please? I'm terrified I'll leave the one and only key in and it will lock! Also where do I get a new key?! Devon area. Many thanks.

Hi,
Take a clear photo of both sides of the key blade , eBay locksmiths can cut a new blade to fit the drivers door lock & ignition but it will not start the car but will enable the battery to be accessed for charging in the boot.
Further work will need to carried out.
Hope that helps
Keith

Thanks for the idea of the key cutting 😁

Welcome to the A2OC.
If it's clicking away, all the time, the battery will drain. Might be CCU, or door micro switches. A scan will probably tell you more.
I'm sure someone will help you save the battery in the short term.
Mac.

Been reading some of the posts here, seems its similar to the one that if don't lock with the fob it will keep locking.. So about to try that next! But figure it's gotta be computer read to find out and fix πŸ™„

Krina,
Does the remote fob you have work. ie lock all doors and boot? if you have access to VCDS software, a scan should show up an error.
If the fob works, but you still have the constant 'clunking', I had exactly the same and it was a case of cleaning the drivers door micro switch, which does involve removing the door card, inner membrane and removing the latch to get at the switch.
Depending how confident you are it's not too difficult or a non main dealer mechanic should able to do it in less than an hour total.

Hi, thanks for the advice, I only got the car late last night, so an about to try the fob locking, as saw that on another thread, I think last night, got out the car, luckily took the key out, as I don't usually, and went indoors, came out 10 mins later, all locked.. Usual I hear, except that didn't happen in my old a2 of the same year..
Then, later went to walk my dog and heard it clunk clunk, I tried the door, locked.. My son walked past this morning and it clunked again? Randomly..
I'm about to test the fob against auto lock now.. Guessing I need to get it seen to!

Where abouts are you in Devon? You need to get the car’s fault codes scanned / read so we can help you pinpoint the issue correctly.
