Would just like to no if anyone out there
has used a roofrack on there A2 as i am considering
getting a roofrack and topbox so i can go camping
and was just wondering if anyone out there has
experienced this ..Do u get the same helicopter effect
like when u open your windows at over 40 mph is there
much wind noise as i dont want to waste my money if
it makes it unbearable to drive ..

But i could do with the extra space
also has anyone of you used anything
other than the A2 Original as im having a problem getting
hold of the A2 Original and was considering a Thule
as they seem very robust and they make an Aero bar
that may cut down a little on the noise

Look forward to your replies [24]

Just do a search above and tick the Archive box. You will get loads of hits ie:

So you will see I have the Thule system and very happy with it. It does whistle though when there are no bikes on the roof. At speeds from about 60 and with the wind coming from certain sides it can get irritating but then you can just take them off. It takes only about 20 minutes to put them on and far less to take them off.

Just bought a Thule Ocean 100 good quality box and looks okay on the car, I have the Audi roof bars which are similar to Thule Aero bars, they too are noisy on their own but quiten down when the roofbox is fitted. Must try with our bikes on sometime.
The A2 is ideal for camping just keep your speed down to about 60mph and you should return 60mpg easily, go to 70-75 and watch the mpg drop to below 50.

I have Thule bars (std section), with locks, and a Halfords 600 ltr box. Used on the Honda, previous Passat and (with Halfords bars) a Vectra but not on the A2.

Quality is good and noise not noticable with the box on, noise was terrible with the Halfords bars. After 5 years and many uses they are almost as good as new, some marking where the box has been clamped onto the bars.

By the way - if you read the instructions you should not exceed 60 mph with the bars on - I must confess to ignoring this.
