hi, everyone.

as some of you will probably know im looking for a nice a2 tdi sport as my next vehicle.
i just need to know what size speakers are in the doors of the a2,are there separate tweeters also and has anyone fitted upgraded speakers to their a2?im looking to upgrade focal speakers when i have found the right car.

is any modifacation needed to the speaker ie adapters or problems with mounting depth?

also i brought myself an ipod mini when i was in nyc for use in my car and have seen the denison ice link plus which enables you to play and control an ipod through your head unit and was wondering if any of you have one or seen one working and would reccomend it .i decided to forget the mac mini idea for the moment as seen in my previous post.

many thanks m.

Here are some pictures of the IceLink plus I installed 2 weeks ago in my A2. Highly recommend it! Installation was pretty simple, also.

hi frido,
that looks a nice setup, did you wire it upto the rear cd changer port or behind the head unit?

i also see that there is two versions of the ice link plus the one you have and one without a cradle for glovebox mounting or mounting in a cup holder.im not sure if an ipod mini would fit in the front cup holders on an a2 though?

frido can you tell me what size the standard speakers are in your a2?

:) m

I wired it into the back of the head unit (and disconnected the CD-Changer that was in the car). There is a cradle version for the mini, but you can also put the mini in the cupholder, but I´d prefer a proper cradle...

As to the speakers: I have no idea, but several people on this forum are fairly knowledgeable with these things... do a search for "Speaker" and see what comes up!

Bye, Frido.

Hi
Im going to order one of these for my A2.
Looks a neatjob. How easy was it to fit ?Did you need any
special tools ?
How did you get the wire through ,did you remove the vent ?
How didnt it break ?
Sorry lots of questions. £50 to fit by carphone warehouse.
Cheers

andy

It was fairly easy to fit. You just need the hooks to pull out the head unit (and the mount for the cradle, of course, the one I used can be found at http://www.dashmount.co.uk ). Then remove the two screws behind the hea unit that hold the vents in place. After that, just pull out the whole vent. The plastic surrounding the vent bends a little, so you can just pull the cable through and then slide the vent assembly back in with the mount. All in all, should not take longer than 30 minutes...

Bye, Frido.

To find the size of speakers have a look at say the Alpine or Kenwood site, they will give compatability chart & speaker sizes, hope this helps.

Speaker sizes.....
Search for a topic named 'Speakers' (archive too!) and you'll find a thread that also includes this link to a German forum. No need to read German, picture says it all:

Good luck,
