A2 TDI Balance shaft chain replacement specialist needed.

Hi there,

I own a 2003 A2 1.4 TDI BHC that has covered 237,000 miles.
I haven't been using the vehicle for a while as I've been trying to locate someone who would be prepared to replace the balance shaft chain/pulley & tensioner assembly.
Problem I have is that I've been unable to locate anyone who either has all the equipment of are prepared to carry out the work.
So my question is can anyone recommend a garage who could carry out the work?
I live in Crosshands in South West Wales but work in London and surrounding areas. I'm prepared to travel to find someone but would like to find someone within an hour or so from either Crosshands or Woking and preferably an Audi Independent garage. Kingsway Motor Services (Swansea) had been recommended but they are unable to carry out the work. BTW my local Audi garage were unable to help at all, only to confirm they would charge 4 hours to remove the sump!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Lee.

The go-to guys for this are WOM Automotive in Stoke-on-Trent. which may be a bit far out of your travelling range. But you could also ask B&F Autos in Hounslow, you'll find contact details in Google. Gary's the man who knows his way round the A2.

Hi Lee,

A member on the club Vanders had his done recently I think in the aberdare he posted pictures of them doing it my be worth contacting him.

@Vanders had his done with the local workshop I use in Aberdare. He's done one for me, for a few other members and also Vanders. I've always been extremely happy with his work and prices and will continue to take my cars there, but after inspection by another garage it was believed that he fitted the wrong matching pair of brake pads on a members car. I'll continue to use him as everyone has an off day and it was in no way a dangerous fitment.

Motion seconded for B&F Autos. Know their stuff with A2's. Their place in West Hounslow is 5 mins. from West Hounslow Tube.

Here's Vanders' thread about getting the work done at Aberdare Motor Repairs:

Aberdare Motor Repairs don't have a website of their own, but here they are on nicelocal:

They look highly wonderful, but no where is there any mention of an A2 in all their information. No actual competition cars either.

Just an observation, not a criticism.

If its even close I'd also recommend getting the timing belt done at the same time as a lot of the labour / removal work needed is done when you get the chain replaced.

...and the water pump and ider/tensioner pulley?
