A2oc start of the social year meal

Up not so early after a late night finish to the opening social of the year. Yvonne and I really enjoyed the evening even if it was a tad windy and cold chatting by the cars. It was nice to meet a new couple (Simon and partner who's name has been deleted from my memory, I hate getting old) to the socials and really hope you will join us for further socials. Also nice to see an old former owner -drive forward (Ian and Becky) join us and tempt a few of us to try his rather fantastic BMW i3 - if only Audi would build a new A2 with that tech! The usual suspects and regular A2 socialites were there and without you guys it wouldn't be the great pleasure to organise these events. So thanks every one that took the time and made the effort to travel down for the evening.
The food as always was really nice with good service. As I looked across the two tables it was lovely to see happy faces with plenty of laughter. Once again I forgot to take any photos - did anyone else ?
Must also say the cars were looking great with special mention to special edition Dave's super clean Merlot red example - I miss the wooden steering wheel. Young matts car gets shinier every time I see it - what is the secret to get that black paintwork looking so deep? I did like Chris cookie monsters very subtle mod did anybody else see it? Blink and you could miss it. James is slowly morphing his A2 into a TT and looking mighty fine. I chose to bring my castle red Fsi with its 156k miles and humble spec - no aircon ! But A2 storms were represented in two forms amee had her yellow storm and cherrie brought her factory fresh red storm - the closest I have seen a car in showroom fresh condition. So thanks once again to all that came and made the evening great fun. Cheers Mike and Yvonne

I would like to say a big thankyou to Mike and Vonnie for what was a lovely evening at Fort Dunlop. The meal and the company were great - very relaxed and friendly. I would highly recommend that members try and make it to the next social in Yorkshire - really looking forward to it now.

A great read Mike and a touch envious as I couldn't make it in the end.

The social scene is an extension of this great club (these pages) and it is great to read uplifting news about members coming together and enjoying their A2's and general discussion.

Well done to all involved in the organisation and to all those who attended and made the event special.

Had a fantastic night with great company, food and Grand Theft Auto giggles. Hope Chris the Cookie Monster didn't get delayed like last year. There was a road closure on the way out for us and after his tale of last year we thought we were doomed. After checking the calendars it looks like the next time we can make is Kimbolton. Am sad we can't make Yorkshire especially since we are in the same county but over the other side of it.

Proud to be a member of the A2OC.
Aimee (& Lee the hairy one of course ;) )

Well I followed you until I realised I was heading for the M42 north, then I turned around and went the right way, albeit via a bit of a diversion (unofficial)

Chris

Lee kept saying you were behind us and I kept telling that it couldn't be you because you would be going in the wrong direction. :D
