A2Steve’s 2020 project

Hello Steve,

your car looks very nice and the original 17" wheels are perfect on that very attractive color! You made the best decision, I think, as the golden wheels looked, IMHO, a bit too flashy, 'non-Audi' for the style of the A2.

I must confess that I'm a little envious of the fact that in UK, non doubt thanks also to this excellent Forum, you can have access to the skill of so many specialists who can do wonders on the equipment of your A2s. In Italy, it's almost impossible.

Have a nice week-end,

Stefano

So if you won't be spending money modifying this one, are you going to spec it up instead? Not that there's much left, only BOSE, cruise and maybe an RNS-E that I can think of. All in a day's work for Tom - probably quite literally :D

Hmmm, well my commute has now changed to 8 miles each way instead of the 50 miles a day I was doing. Whilst the BOSE system is a huge improvement over the factory setup, i very rarely put the radio on at all. I would also have no use for cruise because it’s all country roads up and down the gears.

Will just be concentrating on getting the car as good an example as it can be.

Im pretty sure @timmus has done a tour to Italy.
I have indeed, and another one has just been announced... https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/timmus-in-italy-may-2020.42430/

Stefano, a visit to Bologna would be a pleasure.

Steve, apologies for the brief thread hijack.

Cheers,

Tom

Had the rare occasion today where I had an hour to myself, with no parts to be packed (awaiting a breaker) and no list of jobs to do from Mrs A2Steve. Took the opportunity to sort out the rather scabby looking rear spoiler that someone had ruined by hand painting in the past.

Rub down with 1000 grit wet and dry, clean with medical grade alcohol wash and 2 hood coats of Halfords vinyl paint.

A big improvement if I do say so myself and £10 of materials well spent.

I was even left with enough time to make a start on the deep cleaning by scrubbing the badges, wet sanding and autosol the centre caps and deep clean all the window rubbers.

She’s coming along nicely

Still waiting on my slot in the garage though to have my loom and injectors changed.

Looking great Steve, I take it you didn't h to put a plastic primer on first using the spray paint in the photo?
I n to do the votex spoiler at some point.

No, it didn’t say it needs a primer. Will see how it goes.

Watching intently :)

Was always torn on doing mine - it also has a nice water rentention feature that I'd probably have to deal with - either with the vinyl paint or just the stock primer and an ebony base colour and primer. But then gloss wouldnt work so would need to look at semi-gloss I guess.

This is a satin finish so quite close to the factory finish.

Must get round to doing mine one day!!!!! Tempted to get it sprayed Ebony to match the rest of the car, but yours looks pretty damn good....decisions decisions....

I think the fsi is running on wine. Must be super high octane wine at that
