Abs and Traction Control mil lights!

Last few days at times have felt the car to have a suttle misfire

Today it started running rough, and abs and TC mils on. Quick cycle of ignition and all seemed ok, well no lights and pretty on song.
Upon return journey home however things took a turn for worst with misfire, poor running and said mil's. Luckily managed to limp home and VOR her! ( Galaxy MK2 to the rescue!)

Fault code read shows NO.1 injector fault

Got the cam cover off and removed loom in hope to clean off oil and tighten all wiring plugs to injectors in hope its simply a loose connection

My question has anyone had this and cured same way? Had many PD'S and have known the injector loom to cause problems, rather than the actual injectors themselves?? (First time having a problem myself with injectors thou)

Any ideas and knowledge greatly received!

Cheers

First I would rule out dirty or watered fuel. Drain the filter and see what comes out. how old is the filter? Has the car been standing for a long period or not used much? Have you driven in heavy rain or through deep puddles? Is the engine bay wet? Tandem pump nice and dry? Does it take a while to start or pretty quick to fire?
Can not see a link between ABS traction and injector misfire unless water ingress. ABS sensors on the wheels can "drown". Good battery and earths?
Did you or can you have a VCDS scan although I have yet to see a loom show up on VCDS.

TC lights are known for misfire faults on PD's
All serviced up in last few thousand miles and starts almost effortlessly
Bit of oily residue around n/s corner of engine but nothing alarming

Ok if you are sure that there is not a real ABS or traction control issue and no fuel leak at the tandem. You have removed the loom from the car or just disconnected from the injectors? All injector connections clean and tight, then what about the knurled nut where the loom is connected to the car wiring? dirty damp or damaged / shorting wires? Give it a good clean with contact cleaner or similar. If still the same and you have a vcds scan done showing the fuel trim then I would replace the injector loom unless it has been replaced recently. Hopefully that will solve the problem. Out of curiosity what are the seals like on the injectors and the mileage they have done?

Removed loom currently in kitchen waiting for cleaning and tightening of connections. Then i need to clean injector connectors and refit everything and pray lol. At this stage not planning on removing the injectors.
The above vid is actually what i have based my fault on so hope the same fix will work for me!
Cars done 167 k
Will update when back together!

Many thanks peeps!!

Is that on original loom and injectors? Remember the loom has the hardest life, submerged in oil that varies from stone cold to very hot the insulation and the wires themselves really do take a hammering. Unfortunately I do not know the resistance values for the individual wires from the external socket to the injector terminals, but would by now expect a higher overall resistance now compared to new. Personally have not seen traction control light and loom issue on the A2 but have seen similar on A4 and Passat. Hence me questioning if it was a damp issue in the abs sensors and injector loom. You may be better changing the loom anyway. Always had mine from Darkside Developements.

Removed wiring from plugs, used a cheap pin set removal tool i had from ebay having tried the above vids method of bending to which i got no joy!
Also needed superglue to fix the plastic retainer which really is toy town stuff but stuck good it would seem, once refitted no.1 especially sure was much tighter.
A quick 5 mile road test all seems fine but only time will tell!
With the bank holiday a new loom couldnt be bought so i accept changing it would be a good idea i simply had to try something!
I also took the " Bush craft" route and slackened the engine mount about 10mm in order to get clearance for cam cover removal and took egr valve off for access to one of the bolts (wanted to clean it anyway along with inlet manifold but the manifold will have to wait as looks a bit involved to remove!). Also removed a bit of the inlet manifold coating to get my socketry on another tricky rear bolt

Will update with any developments good or bad!
