ABS Sensor Fault

Hello Folks

Looking for some help from the gurus!
I suffered the usual brake pad wear indication caused by the cable being rubbed through by the 17" wheels, and shortly afterwards the ABS warning came through for the same reason - the combined cable worn through by the tyre...
I bought a repair harness 1K0927903L as mentioned by another menber and installed it - The pad wear warning is now sorted but the ABS warning persists (00283) so I fitted a new wheel speed sensor... See pics
The problem still persists - "electrical malfunction in circuit" See Pic.
The fault doesn't clear on the DIS or using VCDS
Any ideas folks? I'm tearing my hear out here - not that there was much left anyway!

Could be due to the gap between the sensor and the rotor, the "air gap" being too wide.
Using VCDS, look at ABS Brake System, Controller 03, Measuring Blocks, Group 001, Block 1.
Jack that wheel up, so that you can spin the wheel.
If the sensor and wiring is OK, You'll see if the wheel speed, 0.0 at rest.
If the sensor is "seeing" the rotor, as you spin the wheel the speed will change. If it doesn't change, it's probably that the sensor is too far away from the rotor.

Many thanks! Will try today but not optimistic of this as it's a standard sensor fitted fully home as per the original...

Will report back.

If the DTCs do not refer to Open, or Short Circuit, then a duff sensor is less likely than a sensor that isn't sending any readings.
Optimism should be retained, until it's proven to be unfounded.

Ok, have done that check as advised, and as suggested the front left sensor shows zero speed whilst the other three read consistently...
I guess I'll be removing the sensor and looking down the hole to see what I can see!

Glad that my theory paid off.
Hopefully, there'll be a bit of dust in the the housing, and when removed, the sensor will go in a tiny bit further🤞
