Actions on error codes?

Hi all,

Have hade the wierd problem that all error lights flashes and the alarm sounds beeps. Occurs random or several times a day, have not yet found a clear pattern to help in our problem solving. Today at ”bilbesikningen” 2 codes were found : 0106 and 0170. Could 0106 be the roatcause? and what do we need to change/repair in that case.
Also, some time ago a car mechanic said the part on the attatched photo fell out from underneeth, he did not find where it came from, anyone that knows what it is and could that be related to our problem. Good news in all of this that despite these error codes our A2 from 2002 came out with excellent grades👍👍👍

The piece in the photos looks like the breather filter off the EGR valve (at the end of the breather pipe).

Not a drama, but should be replaced, although not sure how it would fall off. In my AUA, it is tucked away securely around the coolant pipes etc, so cannot get knocked off accidentally.
Part 14 on the attached.
...and I doubt relates to the error codes (in itself).

Aha, ok👍 Wereplace the EGR valve since one of the error codes we got was linked to this. Will check if there is somethin missing 🫢

Hi Oscar,
Think we found nr14 placement, but on our A2 it’s a screw there? Wierd! Or I’m I completely wrong? And this is not the EGR valve?

Hi

Yes that’s not right, someone has blocked off the breather, perhaps they thought they were ‘deleting’ the EGR by doing that. I would take that bolt out and then perhaps re adapt the EGR. Not sure what effect blocking the breather will have but it’s certainly not meant to be blocked. Then see if you can locate a filter to fit back on.

best wishes

A bit of a bodge.......

The breather bit that 'fell off' is just a filter, so you could take the screw out, and let it breath until you get a replacement (cheap and easy?).
You may need to re-code the EGR, using the instructions here.

This is irrelevant to the filter. It should be done with a new EGR valve, but they may have done that (or not).

The detach of the screw may have effect on the error codes, as the EGR may have had difficulty moving with restricted breather airflow - Maybe.

Hi Justin,

It might have been that this is the way that it was delivered and the person who exchanged the old one did not understand that it should be removed.
Anyhow, we have now removed it and orderd a new filter
Thx and have a nice sunday

Good news, let us know if your error codes persist once this is fitted
