Advice re. seats and airbags

Hello,

I'm doing some research on A2s, hoping to buy one very soon! :)

Just after a bit of advice about the airbags: The list of standard safety features (for an SE model) includes: driver/front passenger airbag and front side airbags. The optional extra is "sideguard airbag system". Is this the curtain airbags that I've seen mentioned on these forums and is it the only airbag protection available for the back seats?

The cars I've seen for sale mention side airbags but presumably this is just front airbags. Is there a way of telling, just by looking at the car, whether it has airbags in the rear?

Hope these questions don't sound too stupid! :confused:

Also the black mesh seats - are they really hard to keep clean, and if so, is it possible to get decent seat covers to go over them?

Thanks for all the information, that's very helpful! I won't hold out for the curtain airbags then, I may be waiting a while!
 
Yep. To be honest, the safety gain is also minimal. There are lots of pics of A2s which have been rolled and the main car cell is completely intact.

also the airbags have to be marked with a visible label.. if you look on the side of the seats there is a 'airbag' badge and the same applies to the curtain airbags if installed... my S6 had a badge above the windows on each side of the car front and back
