Air filter replaced early and just look at it!

Hi

I though some may be interested in the difference between air filters old and new, even though the old has been replaced to audi's specification in the past! Notice the large insect between them - quite a few of these fell out!

Hopefully the return of my ABS, TC and (!) lights isn't related!

Cheers

Looking at that makes me want to get my air filter out and see if I have captured anything juicy in my filter. Maybe a job for the weekend I think. How old was the filter?

I'm not entrely sure; the car had FSH from various VW specialists when I bought it at 72,000 miles near christmas - I'm guessing it's been there since 60,000 miles but it was on long-life servicing...

The filter looks very original! From my experience VW workshops were very reluctant to do anything that involved removing the undertray.

I've been told that the filter gets dirty very quickly, this last time i fitted a K&N and when i changed my oil last time, gave it a quick check and it looks like it has held up better than the OEM filter

My air filter was similarly very filthy - I think I had a cigar butt and some leaves fall out of the bottom when I removed it too, ha! I put a K&N in just for the heck of it.
