Airbag manual switch

Hi every one,

A question for the technically minded folk on here.

Is it possible to retro fit a airbag on/off switch which you have to manually use your key?

As below;

I know other Audi models usually come with them fitted as standard, my A4 had one. Did our A2's only come with them as an optional extra?

Any one in the know please could you help.

Regards
Ross

Thank you Steve and Bret,

I thought this would be a tricky/complex mod.

I already have passenger airbag disabled, Mike (skipton) has carried this out for me. I'll leave it as it is, And I won't mess with my airbags.

Thank you guys

For further info on this idea.

The A2 was available with a factory option to disable the front passenger airbag by manual method using the car's key.
The option is not however a simple on/off interrupt type of circuit - as Bret correctly states, it's a complex wiring installation and also requires a new airbag control unit to facilitate the operation.
We have carried out one such modification and are preparing for another two, where we will be installing the SideGuard head airbags as well.

I think there is a detailed & illustrated "how to" guide on ther German formum (A2freun.de) for retrofitting that airbag switch, along with the Isofix hooks at the front seat (that was a whole kit as optionnal extra)

yes, there is. Just that there were some server issues yesterday so no option to go find it.
