Akoya Silver Tdi 90

Thought I’d introduce my parents’ (hopefully one day my) Akoya silver A2. It was bought jointly by my mum and grandma as a run around back in 2006/07 from Doncaster Audi. Since then grandma has passed away and dad has retired so the A2 has had very little use as their main car is a Q3. Anyway, on to the car.

It’s a 2005 (05) 1.4 tdi 90 sport which has done 42,000 miles. Has some nice options fitted which include full black leather, rear electric windows, front fog lights, open sky, Bose sound. It’s had Audi headlamp protectors on since new and they’ve also got a full set of both rubber and carpet mats for it.

Sadly the open sky system isn’t working and it’s recently thrown up some warning lights on the dash which they’re in the process of resolving. It’s looking like the handbrake is sticking on and causing the problems. Fingers crossed that will be resolved in the coming weeks and as the weather improves it can be shown the love and attention it deserves.

Welcome aboard :) That's rather a nice low-mileage car isn't it, and it looks well-kept in the photo too. That must have been quite some runaround given the pricing levels back in the day, even through the Audi used/approved network at 1-2 years old. With that spec, was it previously a demonstrator do you know? If not, Audi may even have made some money on the sale to its first owner!

Fingers crossed for the resolution of its current issues. There's no such thing as a bad question so feel free to ask away about anything you need to know, we've plenty of helpful and knowledgeable members on here. You might be able to get a scan done to confirm the faults by a member local to you who has the VAG VCDS diagnostic software.

For the OpenSky, @Kleynie down near Heathrow runs a repair and replacement service, and @depronman over on the Fylde also knows his way round the mechanism and has engineering solutions for some of its common problems. I'd suggest starting a couple of PM's to them to get their opinions on the symptoms on your one.

Thank you for the warm welcome and kind words.

I know that there was a private owner before us but I believe it was a demonstrator beforehand as the previous owner was local and it’s not on Yorkshire plates. At the time they bought it, it had done 19,000 miles which for its age was quite high but we knew they wouldn’t be putting many miles on it. I remember mum being reluctant because she thought they ‘looked like a milk float’ but I was persuasive in explaining what a rare spec it was. Grandma fell in love with it straight away. The raised seating position was ideal for her and as she got older into her 90s the only thing she kept commenting on was how handy the handle on the dash was for helping her to get in and out.

I haven’t got any pictures of the inside at present but there’s no wear to any of the stereo or climate control buttons.

What a lovely A2.

I wonder why so many TDI90s were painted in Akoya Silver. Within the small world of A2s, it’s an inexplicably common combination.

I look forward to the day when you can call the car wholly yours. :)

All the best,

Tom

Thanks Tom

There’s some very tempting items on that list of upgrades that you offer! 🫣

Great cars, here’s my 90 tdi in akoya. Been in same family since October 2006, I bought it last month with 80k and have done done cosmetic bits only so far

Looks fantastic. What spec is it? I’d be interested to see and hear more about your plans. I’ve noticed there’s some front sensors on it. The spoiler in that rear shot is bending my eyes (or mind) 😵‍💫

Jumping right on the bandwagon, here is my Akoya 90. Owned for 2.5 years. Bought with 107k miles and now on 159k.
This photo predates someone reversing in to the rear door. And of course since it's winter it has a set of 15" pepperpot wheels on it

Real shiny!! Like the smooth front end. 😎

We probably have the scruffiest akoya 90 in the club, all panels are varying shades of Akoya and several designer key scratches but amazingly has working oss, Alcantara seats, double din, cruise etc. We've had it for a little over a year, rear seats permanently out as it is the workhorse of the fleet.

Oh I almost forgot the vital extra it has and that's a towbar 😀
