Alarm and Unlocking Questions

I'm a newbie. So be gentle.

My fob isn't opening the car remotely. Suggestions?

When I use the key, only the drivers door is unlocked....then when I open the door the alarm goes off until I put met in ignition...this then opens the other doors. Confused...and the handbook confuses even more. Can you advise??

Hi,

Try the following.

Sit in the car with the doors closed
Put the key in the ignition and turn it on (without starting the engine)
Press the unlock button on the key fob a couple of times
Then turn off, remove the key
Then straight away try it (from inside the car because a delay could cancel the process)

That SHOULD work if the key you have has already been paired to your car but has stopped working

As long as the battery in the fob is not flat.

Did the key ever work?

If not then it would need to be paired to the car via VCDS (Assuming that it is the correct type of key, there are a few different ones that will not work with certain CCCUs)

Sorry to ask this, but are you sure that the battery is in the right way around?

The other way of doing it is similar to Birchall's...

  1. Open car with key
  2. Start key with ignition
  3. Stop Car
  4. IMMEDIATELY remove key from ignition and press lock/unlock button
  5. This should sort it
This is a common issue when you change the car battery, happens nearly all of the time.

That is the same process effectively, but always worth a try.
I like the "no cost options", even if they don't work you have lost nothing.
