Alarm keeps going off when connecting the battery please help!

HI All.
Had an alarm problem on my mother in laws' polo tdi (2003) with a random alarm sounding when car locked. She was advised to change the battery by a local garage (was a bosch s4 battery). This she did but still no joy, alarm randomly going off. I scanned the car checked everything from door locks to alarm interior sensor deactivation push button. In the end It turned out to be a faulty interior motion sensor. in the roof headlining I unplugged it and she has had no random sounding since.
Worth a try?

Since there are three A2s, (have I got that right?), all doing the same thing, I'd suspect external influence, nearby transmitter for example. Seems unlikely that all three have the same fault.
What does the DIS show?

I was also thinking, if it is an external transmission source causing the problem, then which sensors connected to the alarm could be affected? The only one that springs to mind is the ultrasonic interior motion detector. If you push in the button on the driver's B-pillar (the one that isn't for opening the fuel flap) to disable it once you connect the battery, does it turn the alarm off?

Because the car starts, I wonder if the Alarm is being triggered, or just the sounder? When the car battery is not connected, the sounder will run on it's own battery, and although the current drain is very small, the internal battery is quite small too, so it will drain over a long period with no charge from the battery. The low battery in the sounder would make it much more vulnerable to radio frequency interference. That's why I enquired about the DIS, does it support a genuine alarm condition?
Mac.
Edit: Do the hazards flash, with the sounder, or, just the sounder?
Mac.

Hi guys,

Busy weekend so didn’t get round to post. Had to switch whole front panel on another.

Anyways, one is back and running with no alarm!!! Went off when I connected, and thought not this again. However, key in, alarm stopped!?? So happy.

Scanned it, many alarmed triggered and lost key etc.. Cleared with no probs. :)

not sure the others will be so easy, but will keep you posted. And will see what happens.

All the best
