Hi Guys. Having problems with the alarm system. Car sounds alarm after it has been locked for about 10 minutes. Any Ideas. Crawly audi have tried but to know avail so far. Fitted new bonnet switch yesterday. No change except big bill.
Help please

Hey Old Git (why is there amusement in being allowed to address someone this way? ...lol)

Anyway did Audi actually run a scan on the car? Try disabling the interior sensors by simply switching them off by the door pillar switch.

It could be one of the door switches in the locks or one of several other things, but a scan is the way forward first.

Also when you arm the alarm carefully watch the little red LED in the drivers door, this flashes in different sequences in order to show different status of the alarm. It flashes fast at first then slows down to a steady pace, can't recall exact indication off the top of my head at moment.

Mine was doing that last week and had to have a comfort/conveniance module doofer fitted. Pricey job but it seems to have sorted the problem.

Firstly thanks for your suggestions. An update of where we are at. I spoke to Audi Crawley on Monday and advised that the new bonnet switch didn't seem to make any difference and that "Karl Heinz", continued to chirp away after about 5 minutes when locked. Dealership was not interested in A2 clubs thoughts on what might be the problem.
Audi said that they would send out their mobile mechanic to me at home as the problem had not been fixed.
He duly arrived, right on time and spent some time on trying to make the fault happen, but low it would not. Karl's a stubborn b****r sometimes. He then plugged in his diagnostic kit and, hey, it registered fault with bonnet switch. Audi man said, look see if the thing has righted itself, but if not, then could be a wiring issue in that area. Mega bucks.
As I type, Karl's asleep in the garage, not a peep all afternoon.
To be continued, I think.

Karl's not uttered a peep since Mobile Audi man came. Wonder what he said to him.
No bill either apparently:)

Just wait till you let your guard down ....lol :D

Experience tells me not to be fully satisfied or believe it, if a fault fixes itself, expect it to start wailing again seeking your attention when your least expecting it.

All the best though ;)

I have had problems in the past with the alarm going off randomly and the led not blinking after the car being locked.
I removed the battery terminals (negative first) for 30mins and reconnected them. This reset the system and the led is now working and has sorted the problem. Might be worth trying that to see if it helps. I didn't need to enter the radio code just had to set the date again.

Thanks for your replys particuly the last one which maybe a cheep (sorry) option if the fault re-ocurs. Hasn't so far, although I agree that if nothing has been replaced or confirmed as THE fault, it's likely to haunt me in the future. Who knows, Audiman may have disconected the battery, I wasn't there when he called and my wife is not really into discussing anything to do with cars. She just expects them to be full of fuel, clean and serviced. Ho Hum.
