Hi all
Have just been on black circles to see if they have got the tires in yet that I wanted and found these all weathers, they are very pricy but I’ve not seen them before for the 17’s.

I can recommend Maxxis AP2 without hesitation. They're excellent tyres;I was very impressed by their performance when I put them on my A2. They're available from tyre leader. co. uk for £73.09 in the size you're looking at.

The Maxxis AP3 which presumably is a new improved version of the AP2, just came in last place in the latest Auto Bild all-season tyre review.

Goodyear G3, Vredestein Quatrac, Continental AllSeasonContact, and Michelin CrossClimate+ came 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in the test.

Latest All Seasons tyre review is just out. They also have recommendations for English winter conditions where cold, wet and dry conditions take precedent over snow and ice performance

Cheers Spike

PS. Well, it was the latest until a few days ago

I think the Michelin's would have scored higher had they reduced the snow & ice weighting still further on the tyre reviews "UK climate" scoring - For Southern and Mid-UK, the Michelins are the tyre of choice for year-round motoring, let's not forget how well they did in this test throughout the temperature range - They are a true jack of all trades, good-in-all-areas tyre that are worth the cost if you do enough miles to wear them before they age-expire.

I'm really interested to understand how the CrossClimate 2 improves on the CrossClimate+ when they come out - due next year I believe.

Thread resurrection! I usually buy my tyres from Camskills, will be looking for some 205/40 R17 and the Firestone Roadhawks look to be a good combination of energy efficiency, low noise and wet performance.
Anyone used them?

Do your research. Tyrereviews.co.uk is a terrific resource.

Got them on my daughters project A2, not MOT’ed yet so not had chance to try them. Good value and good reviews from what I read.

It can be useful to group tyres together. All the tyres in a group will have similar outside diameters, and are interchangeable with each other.

Group 1
165/70R14, 175/60R15, 185/50R16

Group 2
175/65R14, 185/55R15, 195/45R16

On the Audi A2, the 195/45R16 size is sometimes used instead of the 185/50R16 size, and both are fitted to the same 6Jx16 ET35 rim.

175/65R14 would be a good choice for comfort and is one of the cheapest tyre sizes on the market. 5Jx14 ET35 steel rims would be suitable. Searching on mytyres.co.uk for steel rims for the VW Polo 1.9SDI would show 5Jx14 ET35 rims, and other sizes.
