Alpine Sat Nav & CD Changer

Just thought I would share with you a couple of photos of my Alpine head unit and CD changer which I had transferred from my old car. I have owned the single DIN Sat Nav unit for about three years (model INA-N333R) and previously had it connected to a hands free kit in my old car (but mobile phone now changed). The CD unit is capable of reading MP3 CDs etc etc.

My stereo guy had to get a CANBUS adapter (£100?!?) for the head unit so it would turn off with the ignition etc. He also installed four yellow teflon-coated Pioneer speakers (mountings not deep enough for Focals) and discovered that there were no speakers in the back (presumably part of the same reasoning that meant Audi only supplying a radio cassette originally).

The only thing I am unhappy about is that the stereo guy ended up installing the CD changer in the glovebox! Whilst doing the installation he phoned me to say that he couldn't find somewhere suitable in the boot (despite me warning him that it might have to go vertical in the side trim) and I agreed that it could go in the glovebox. In my head I could remember the A2 glovebox being surprisingly spacious and pictured the CD changer down in the depths of it...sadly it now blocks the whole entrance to the glovebox with a little bit of room for things on top of the CD changer.

Hope this helps anyone else considering stereo alterations.
