Alternative to A2

What's an Allroad?
Everyone to their own I guess….. I have owned since 2000

Golf x 7 (all for wife)
Tiguan x 1
Allroad x 1
A4 x 2
Discovery x 1
Boxster x 1
Volvo xc70
Mercedes A class
Mercedes E class
Mercedes SLK
Audi A2 x 2
Saab convertible

….. and I am sure I have left a couple out….
I do not smoke…. hardly drink….. do not have loose women😳 😂😂😂 but my crime is too many motors….. out of all of the above (had a couple of Renault in the 90s) the VAG cars had the better lasting bodywork….. and, if I could choose one car out of all of the above for use ability, reliability, it would have to be the Golf 4x4 from 2006, it was a cracker👍
Allroad?

I had the A6…. It’s purpose in life was to tow my heavy German caravan all over Europe, a task it achieved aplomb and I might add….. all over the mountainous Switzerland. Absolutely loved it. Very fast, very comfortable and a well built panser😳

It seems an Allroad could be either an A4 or an A6.
It started with C5 generation (from 1997) of A6 (although I think that Allroad version was released in 1999), after that B8 generation of A4 (from 2008) also got Allroad option.

When I felt I had to replace the second FSI* I struggled to find a car with the internal space of the A2 with the seats removed. I wanted to fit a bike in, whole, without removing a wheel. Golf 7.5/Audi A3/Golf Estate (rear aperture too small) had to be discounted and I went for a Golf SV.
In 2litre TDI & DSG form it's very heavy at over 1500kg - equivalent to an A2 with 6+ passengers! I have been impressed with the economy though, getting 62mpg (winter)/64mpg (summer) over the 20k miles I've had it.

* too many issues: Headlining dropping, transmission whine, oil leak; rear suspension bushes, exhaust sensor and exhaust replacement reqd .

If that's you in the photo then your guys where flying out of Blackpool Airport over the weekend for the Southport Air Show.

Funnily enough, I see the A6 pass my A2 some mornings….. as it speeds pass at great presence. It looks as good as I sold it in 2006 at 63k miles…. goodness knows what the mileage is now…. it has a private plate so will get it as it passes so I can check mileage.

The dash in the A2 looks as though it was taken from the A6 However, it lacks the same quality. A2 looks/feels cheaper.
