Aluminium Corrosion - Holes or not?

Hi, Do you think this 'A' pillar bubbling around the base of the A pillar is a sign of deep seated corrosion? I'd be grateful if any other members could share their experiences of similar corrosion and whether or not it can be repaired without the expense of cutting out and welding new material in. Thanks in advance.

It will probably be surface corrosion under the paint. Due to the highly reactive nature of aluminimum it very quickly forms a robust protective oxide on the surface which doesn't penetrate deep into the material, unlike iron/steel which just disappear to dust.
