Hello all,
I am a doctor and motoring historian living in Bologna, Italy; I ecently bought 2 A2s (one for me,one for my wife) and I found them to be as nice, forward-thinking and nice to drive as I thought when I first road-tested them in 2000. Some impressions from my blogs:

Ciao Stefano! Benvenuto nel club :)

Lovely blog: it is so nice to see a fellow A2 owner sharing the passion and the determination to restore this car, just like one would with an historical classic car. Having grown up in Italy I know how many talented and passionate restoration workshops and mechanics are around and I see you making good use of them.

Hello and welcome!

I have added your passionate blog to my reading list - will read along with nice Italian wine... :)

Thank you all for your very kind welcome on your excellent forum. I'll try to write something more meaningful once I'll be back home with a proper keyboard....:)
Meanwhile I must confirm my idea that an A2 is a proper 'future classic' and must be treated as one.
You are a very keen, positive community, I'm happy to be part of it. Thanks!
All the best
Stefano

Nice write up... as it happens I'll be travelling to bologne on vacation in a few weeks in my a2 so I may have to ask for your assistance :)

Lovely write up!
Most members on this forum will appreciate the inherent qualities of these little cars. They may have bought them for a variety of reasons but once owned the cleverness of their design endears you to them. Your blog echoes the feelings of many.
There probably will never be another volume production car that adheres so closely to it's original design brief. Not everone will fully appreciate them but it is great that this forum exists to keep them alive.

I have been to Bologna on several occassions but never seen an A2! Knowing the Italians flare and appreciation of good design it is great to see you put the A2 up there with some of the greats.

Welcome to the forum. I kook forward to reading more.

Hello sootywg,
it's quite surprising to read that you didn't see any A2s in Bologna, a case of bad luck perhaps as I usually see many of them around especially in wealthier neighborhoods... A2s are still quite appreciated in Italy, there are dozens for sale even now. Many more are at the breakers yards of course, but many are daily drivers. To anyone driving their A2in Bologna, I hope that you will never need any help but.my mechanics now know the A2s inside out and they will be able to help.
BTW, do any technically-minded A2 specialist in the Forum know if a Navigation Plus taken off a 2002 car could work on my 2005 car? Iknow that it would be a messy time-consuming job, but would it talk to the later models' electronics? Thanks!

Technically, and electrically it should work fine. Both cars should have the same CAN Bus. There will obviously be a small amount of VCDS re-programming to achieve a seamless result, but it's certainly do-able.

P.S. it may not be so interesting for everybody, but I found some interesting affinity between two cars I love:

Excellent write up there, I certainly share your appreciation of the Bristols, but unfortunately have neither the money nor the technical knowhow to be able to keep one - I maintain an appreciation from afar.

Also, top marks for getting mentions of the great LJK in there as well :)

Say a mint condition white A2 in Milan last year when I was there for the F1 race weekend. Looked like it lived there as was in s similar place every evening
