Any A2OC's in Herefordshire, or Near?

Hello everyone. I'm four days in to my A2 ownership (Red 05 TDI SE 75 116k miles)... I was just wondering if there are any A2OC members in or near Herefordshire, that might have hands on experience/solutions to,- Glove box,Passenger map and boot lights not working.... Would appreciate any and all advice, and perhaps to meet up,-as there's nothing like being shown how-to, when you're a tad Trepidatious...

Welcome :);)

I’m kinda jealous as that is one stunning A2 ???

I’m sure there is people in the Hertfordshire area and I’m sure many members close by will be willing to help out getting everything sorted for you and your little great car ?

They sound like fairly simple jobs why not try and fix them little issues yourself ? ?:)

I'm in HEREFORDSHIRE,-(on the Welsh Borders)- not Hertfordshire- easy to mistake in print. The main issue is Time and Money. Ideally I'd just win the lottery and hand it over to WOM automotive, bring it up to Heritage collection standard,- but right now I'm the show with no budget.... I gather, from what I've read, that micro switches can be involved( Boot Light & Glove Box)- and other electrical gremlins.. It's a nice car but I'm already getting a bit obsessed with the idea of bringing it back to Mint condition -(I've already made a list). I was vainly hoping there were some A2 Ninjas in my vicinity....... Calling all HEREFORD A2OC's...

There are certainly active members reasonably close to you, just be patient. It's a nice looking car for sure, stands out even against that very stylish dress on the clothes line!
Electrical gremlins can sometimes be a bit tricky to get on top of. Perhaps you can be a bit more specific about the issues you have.

glove box light is almost certainly a blown bulb due to the switch actuator being broken, nearly all A2's suffer from this breakage
I made some time ago a 3D printed repair piece, it clips into place and is retained with a drop of superglue. Its purpose is to separate two metal contacts when the glove box lid is opened. They are £3.50 each plus 85 pence postage
PM me if you would like one

cheers,
Paul

depronman has offered a glove box light solution, I've seen a rear seat interior light thread,- (a dry joint/Soldering solution).,The boot light worries me(Bulb or micro switch?)-. The previous owner gave me a couple of cup holders(-now that's a complicated fix), the original slatted inspection hatch(He swapped it for the black gloss one),and a door hinge(cause it clicks)... I'm going to save up for a full DIS from (Timmus).... plus, in the long run, I'm going to get the alloys refurbed & Paint restored+ maybe some of those transfers for the climate control buttons....(Oh yeah- And I want a false boot floor and a spare wheel too!)... I've had a hankering for this strange pioneering little car since it came out in 1999,- so now I've got one- I've gotta do it justice really.. ?... P.S.- the interior is clean as a whistle-(dark Fabric)- doesn't need anything doing.

Do you have a decent multimeter? Investigating potential blown bulbs for instance, it's always worth starting with checking the socket for an electrical supply ahead of replacing the bulb.

If you're planning to save up for a DIS from timmus, you can always get him to sort out any electrical bits that have defeated you at the same time.
