Anyone on Classic Insurance?

Is anyone running on classic insurance?

With cars of 20 years of age potentially considered classics, could some A2's benefit from classic insurance?

Agreed values and 2nd car policy could be a big win!

If so the club may wish to become recognised by the classic associations and members have membership numbers. Maybe i am talking baloney but i feel it could be a reality??

Wishful thinking??

I’m on an agreed value modified car policy with Adrian Flux - they asked me if I’m a member of a club or forum so I guess that counts?

Adrian Flux has an article from 2020

I was with them for some years but in 2021 they reduced the agreed value valuation from £3,500 to £3,000 despite the A2 having hardly been used due to covid. The agreed value premium was £40. You have to send photos every year. I appealed and sent many example sales from the A2 forum, typically £4,000 to £5,000 for similar A2s. But they would not budge so I moved and no longer have agreed value.

I don't think it helps that there are still many A2s around and are regularly on ebay etc for under £1,000. I know they are the bottom end of the market but it doesn't help when insurers are probably using databases that spit out averages. Good specimen A2s sold on this forum will never appear on such databases. When A2s are rarer and get sold regularly by specialist auction houses then A2s might get recognised as classic in insurers eyes.

Yes, if you have a 20+ yr old.
My 2001 is on classic ins.
My 2003 is on normal ins. (too young for a classic)

Mega!

Whos that with?
Am I correct in thinking the classic insurance allows a seperate policy as a no claims bonus can only be used on one active policy which would mean I could insure an additional A2 without needing a motor traders policy

I’m with Hagerty, they don’t insure normal everyday cars but I’ve got my LR 90 and A2s on a collector policy. Agreed value and restricted mileage up to 5k. If you have a few cars it’s unbelievably good value.
