Anyone travelling to the EU soon? Found a source for a cheap LUK TDi90 DMF

I think the challenge now is that anyone sending from the UK to EU or from EU to UK will need to complete the relevant customs paperwork and given the value is over £135, you will have pay customs duty on both the value of the item and the cost of postages and packaging

You can save the sender the hassle of having to do the customs declaration by asking them to write ‘goods to be declared by importer’ on the customs declaration form. That will mean that you can do it, but it does mean that before you can collect your goods, you’ll be sent:
  • a full customs declaration form to fill in
  • a letter explaining how to pay any tax or duty due
and you'll have to complete the form and pay the money before you can collect them.

Really tough now with customs. I would have suggested taking a short break in Germany and bringing them back yourself. But when customs find more than one item over the value they do not take it lightly and will hammer you for tax and if not declared probably as much other penalties they can throw at you.
A friend of mine works for a coach operator specialising in foreign coach holidays and every time they are coming back the whole coach is getting searched and anything undeclared or over limit is confiscated.

To be honest, even after 20% VAT and shipping costs, the price of this kit at <£350 is still pretty competitive I believe, compared to the only other realistically-priced source I can find here for £469.

That said, I take on board the advice here - I guess my only hope is someone is travelling to Germany / elsewhere in Europe by road soon and can bring it back if I can get the seller to ship to where they'll be. A long shot, but I will change the title of the thread just in case.

Or this one -

edited to note - this link and the one above both are from the same supplier although at substantially different prices. I can't however confirm that this IS an ATL / 90hp clutch / DMF kit as none of the numbers correspond to those in @dj_efk 's link in Germany above. Could be a 75hp clutch mislabelled.

Yes it might still be worth it. I think the customs costs are 2.5% of the value of the item and the cost of shipping and packaging.

It's so tricky and something we have discussed as an admin team as we don't want to make it any more difficult to get parts, but equally feel it would be remiss of us not to ensure that people are aware that there are now restrictions on bringing items in the UK (by post or in the boot of the car) and not complying with UK laws around this can lead to items being seized or indeed fines being issued.
As long as people are aware if the risks, they can make an informed decision and its interesting to see from @audifan , that there does appear to be a tightening up of checks taking place.

Seems to me the big difference between the BuyCarParts listing linked by David and the eBay offerings that Robin linked is the lack of the DMF in the eBay kits. But they're described as 3-piece because they come with the release bearing. Whereas the BuyCarParts one definitely includes the DMF but also definitely doesn't include the bearing. The two eBay listings do seem to be for exactly the same kit, they even quote the same EAN (effectively, the barcode). But one is £130 cheaper.

they're also the same company in Northampton if you read down to the bottom of the ad.

Indeed, the two eBay listings are from the same seller and are identical except for the price - there's got to be an error or oversight somewhere with one of them. I wonder if they'd honour it if you bought the cheaper one?

That link is for the clutch kit not including the DMF Robin. I always look at the part number to be sure - the correct one is 417004710

I am in Slovenia and I can easily reship the parts to UK. But as already mentioned you need to check all the costs and import duties.
From Brexit I have stopped ordering almost everything from UK, because of import duties. :(

Thank you sir - yes as mentioned above it seems that carrying the part in the boot of a personal vehicle is most likely (but not guaranteed) to be the most successful. If not, then I will only pay just under the UK-advertised price anyway, so it's worth a shot.

Still looking for someone travelling between the EU and the U.K. in a private vehicle. Let me know if you plan to soon!
