I have a 1.2TDI from 2001 and i have a connection with a company(BSR) in Sweden that offers remaps for many cars, especially VAG and Volvo.
I can probably get a remap for free through a friend that works there.

I have driven around 50000km vith my car over the last three years and I have had very little trouble with it. I have recently replaced the brakes. The oil level sensor, the fuel door button and fuel cap rubber string is the only things that has broken down.
Im a little worried about fiddeling with the ecu if something goes wrong.

Is it any improvement in fuel efficiency? That would be the major cause for me to go ahead with it. I havnt done it yet because i doubt that they can do better than VAG.

I need input from somone who have done this mod!

Thanks Gordon From Sweden!

Hi Gordon
Most moden Euro3/4 compliant diesel engines run with retarded injection timing as this reduces combustion temperatures which in turn significantly lowers NOX emissions.
Engine remaps are primarily designed to increase performance and some of the extra power normally comes from advancing the timing. This improves combustion efficiency and economy (at the expense fo increased NOX). A remapped car therefore has the potential to be more economical by about 5 -10% providing the extra power is not utilised

Sorry I don't have a 1.2 tdi or a remap to prove the theory

Cheers Spike
