ASR light staying on and Fan behaving madley

Hi Everyone

I bought an 1.6 FSI sport last week and a mate of mine that has an A2 Tdi pointed me in this direction.

I have a few issues with the car, the main one being this light staying on the dashboard its a circle with a triangle in it. I have tried another switch in it so can rule that out. My mate said his illuminates sometimes if cornering hard or if the ASR button is pressed to activate it.

There another issue with the cooling fan acting rather strangely it brings up the engine management light. I had a scan done and it came up with – Engine coolant temp sensor G83 signal to high.
If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Have to dash now on nights start at 10

Thanks in advance

Greg

There is a 4 pin temperature sensor that is a common fail point that could explain the fan. Temp sensor is about £35 from Audi.

Thanks Perksy I will have a good search online and have another play at the weekend.

The annoying thing about it I left the lights on so the battery died. I took it out to charge it and now this. So bloody annoying why should charging a battery cause so many fault??

Im more concerned about the ASR light to be honest I cant find much online. I saw on an other forum about the MAF sensor will try disconnecting it at the weekend.

Remember low battery voltage can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.

If you suspect the battery is iffy - replace it.

The battery is fine I left the lights on and it went dead. It was after I charged it and connected it started up it seemed to go wrong.

Check that the negative terminal is sufficiently tight. If this is loose it can cause problems with the earthing and can cause electrical problems.
