At a crossroads.

Am contemplating what to do with our 2003 Black/red leather, Bose. 1.6 Fsi. 65k. It’s not getting the use (about 900m last year) and has now developed a misfire. Anyone Leicester area who might be able to offer some free advice please? Maybe the time to sell?
Thanks. Chris.

Hi Chris, Im looking for a low mileage FSi. As you may well be aware the engine can be quite troublesome, and cost lots of money to rebuild.
I have been doing loads of research, what starts of as a misfire usually ends up with the head off and lots of work.
Looking for a challenge for the spring /summer, but as always the members of the club will alway help out with any problems.
Not to far away from you in Lincoln. Best of luck with whatever you decide.
Cheers for now Graham

I joined about 13 years ago when we bought the A2 and I’ve always been impressed by members’ input.
Regards
Chris.

There's a couple of things you can do to check the cause of the misfire.

Check the earth point, it may need cleaning. Bit of a pain to get to as it's behind the passenger front lights but a quick enough job.

Second issue to check is if you have a faulty spark plugs or coil pack. Swap the coil packs over and run a scan to see if the fault moves to another cylinder.

If none of the above clears it then it sounds like it's the injector, my fsi had a faulty fuel injector but fortunately The boys at WOM Automotive who are just down the road from you in Uttoxeter were able to supply a new one.

Good luck
