AUA oil cooler

I am considering doing this mod as the car has an 88k "quiet" engine and I'd like it to last!
There's a useful space next to the radiator and the hoses could be kept nice and short with a thermostatic sandwich plate under the filter, maybe even a 90 degree adaptor to make filter changes easier.
Has anyone done this before?

I'd be surprised if the engine would actually benefit from an oil cooler
It would be a good project to fit an oil temp gauge and see what the oil temp is running at. I think 120 C is a safe limit for oil so if it rises much above that, a thermostatically controlled cooler could be of some use.

Cheers Spike

PS. Wonder if you could drill and tap a spare sump plug to take a sensor
