Hi all.
Ever since i purchased my A2, four years ago on 92k(now on 134k) always had a very slight judder on the clutch on pick up in 1st. As car is still running standard map, would it be advisable to have the clutch changed before a remap? And if so which clutch kits are recommended for an A2?
I have had fitted LUK and Sachs kits in the past on other vehicles.
Thanks Steve

I remapped my first one with clutch judder on pickup and it wasn't any noticeably worse when I finally got the clutch done 10k later. Another one has quite a sharp clutch and is no different 8k in after mapping. As long as it's showing no signs of slipping I think you should be fine.

My clutch was slipping before remap. It was remapped and I could definitely make it slip more with the additional power. Equally I could avoid slipping entirely with a modicum of care and avoidance of racing starts.

Had it replaced with a LUX kit and a new pivot bearing and a good clean out, new seals etc. Cost me £850 all in and I stalled the car every time I drove off for about a week - who knew a clutch could bite so low down!?!

There was about six months of driving and about 8,000 miles in between remapping and replacing the clutch. No problem at all.

£850 gather you had a flywheel too and took it to a dealer for fitting?

Mine judders a bit but gathered it was more down to 3 cylinders and solid flywheel (AMF) bought a Valeo clutch kit just in case thou

It was a highly recommended and trusted independent garage who specialises in Porsche and Maserati. I wanted someone who would do a good job and figured it was worth the extra spend.

It was in a very bad way internally. Full of rust. Drive shaft seals had split and leaked. Took four tins of cleaner and ‘the boy’ looked like he’d been dipped in red paint. They needed a puller the my usually use on a LandRover apparently to get one of the shafts out. Fly wheel was okay though.

Ahh didnt realise they had reconned the box as well!

no is the simple answer if the clutch is not slipping the remap will neather improve or worsen the situation with the juder
if you are replaceing the clutch the LUK every time, I've taken a few out and found the wear rate to be incredibly small, last one removed at 168K miles and less than 0.7mm wear on the spinner plate (only changed because of gearbox swap to JDD and thought why not at 168K miles can't be much left in it. How wrong can one be, was certainly another 200K miles in that clutch

are you sure the mounts are all ok, mine was showing similar symptons and it turned out to be the dogbone mount.
