Audi A2 Alarm

When I press the close button on my key, the turning lights all blink, and the little led on the driver's door starts blinking, does that mean that the alarm is active? How can I test this?

It does indeed mean the system is armed.

The easiest way to test it is to arm the alarm with a window down, wait 30 seconds or so and then make like you're leaning into the car to nick a handbag or something - the interior monitor should pickyou up and set off the system.

Cheers,

Mike

(Who has just been fitting a Thatcham1 alarm to his bike - much MUCH louder than the Audi one!)

Re

Oki doki, I'll do that.
How do you turn it off?
And does the alarm also sound when a window is broken?

Only if he has the alarm system!

The LED flashing is a function all A2's have! So only if you have two buttons there were the fuel tank opening button is, you have an alarm system.
The blinking LED in the door only means, that all doors are closed and saved. And the immobiliser system is active.

You re correct Erstens, all that we are going on though is that all UK A2s were supplied with an alarm as standard. So unless it is an import or essen is a non-UK member, then he will have an alarm.

Cheers,

Mike

And someone with VagCom (e.g. Skipton if asked nicely and offer a small donation to the club :) ) will set the A2 to bleep and flash the indicators when the car is locked by the remote provided all doors, the front inspection flap and the fuel flap are closed (not too sure if it checks the windows are closed). I find the bleep nicely reassuring and quicker than looking at the blinking LED.

He can also set the doors to automatically lock when the vehicle reaches a certain speed (5 or is it 10mph - can't remember). Useful for those living in an urban jungle ;-)

I'll test it tomorrow morning and let you know guys :p There is some little system in the left side of the trunk though, I'm from Romania btw.
