HI All.
Currently in process of upgrading my single din dash to double din dash, and then installing a mk1 RNSe unit in very good condition, that i couldn't refuse for £108.90!
The rnse unit came out of an Audi A4 and has part number 8Eo 035 192 TX and has an rs4 splash screen on it when powered up. But needed trimming down to fit A2 dash. Picture below from seller, Note some damage to edge of rnse unit in both top corners?

My understanding is that this unit is a dealer exchange hence th 'X' prefix, and has the voice activation installed on it?
Came with code and 2008 map dvd (genuine).
I have purchased the wiring upgrade kit, and following the excellent fitment guide that has been posted here it is almost done. I need to add in a gala speed wire from back of dash clocks, and re check all wiring.
Car is in my garage in bits at mo(do not want to do this again). Once everything checked for functionality, I will need to check coding for my vehicle via vcds lite.
Just to add i have retrofitted Bose to my A2, Could anyone advise as to what the correct coding for my A2 should be?(save me looking for it).
Also i have done some searching and it seems that a 2016 or 2017 genuine Audi dvd rnse map disc contains 7 digit postcode searching?
Can anyone clarify this and post up the correct Audi part number for it?
Thanks
Steve

Don't ever want to do this again!!! As can be seen by pictures i didn't remove front seats to get dash out, Very tight but do able just slide both front seats fully back and recline back for extra room.

Current progress, Almost there on RNSE upgrade. Main Wiring checked out ok and unit powers up, plays cd's, radio, ok etc, but need to check wiring of Bose input signal and 'wire in' gala speed input cable. The mechanical fitment is a bit tight on final push into the cage, a little bit more light trimming to get a nice in/out fitment. Then need to reassemble dash and test out GPS signal and then check coding.
Forgot to add, Sounds awesome a lot better than the concert cd player i removed(due to faulty volume issue) and on a major plus point my dension unit works on this, Although as per concert unit, I only have track/artist names on dis.

You'd not want my job, then! I've lost count of the number of dashboard removals/installations that I've done.

Well done, Steve. Good work. :)
Your a very brave man. I wouldn't want to do this to another persons car. A couple of times i thought i broke something on removal, some nasty sounds. Almost as if the car was crying at me. Lol

That’s a whole lot of effort for a completely outdated ICE unit?

I just added a £35 Bluetooth streaming box to the standard Concert unit and use your phone

My original concert 2 cd player had performed adequately enough for almost 3 years. But with the faulty volume button i was faced with 3 choices.
A, put up with it! Not an option
B, Have it repaired. Considered this but costs?
C, replace with another audi head unit Rnse, symphony2 etc. If affordable i prefer RNSE which IMO, would also give the dash a more modern look.
As i already have a dension usb, ipod audio unit(gw33ac2) , which displays track info, artist, album etc on the Dis. With over 40 albums on an 8gb usb stick(only half full) really wanted to retain this facility. Yes streaming via bluetooth is handy, and possible hands free to receive calls etc. But i don't want hassle of setting up playlists etc. Prefer freedom of listening to songs i want to on the go.
Overall i will agree a lot of work, but as i intend to keep this car long term, i think the rewards will pay for themselves. The sound output from the rnse compared to the concert 2, via the bose set up, is considerably better.
Thanks Steve
