Audi A2 SE Tdi

Hello

It’s nerdy enough to be interesting and sensible enough to keep me from going overboard spending on it.... I think that’s why I like it so much.

I have a 54 plate 1.4tdi (I believe AMF) Audi A2

I thought I’d do an intro as I’ve been lurking for ages, absorbing information and fixing faults. Ive owned it for just over a year and have covered around 12,000 miles, including a recent journey to France where we achieved 1,100 miles in three days of driving.

Ive got some maintenance bits to tackle in the coming week (suspension, drop links), but then I’ll be looking to address the head lining which is a bit annoying. I’m a community nurse, so it’s been ideal for work as well as regular driving.

Thanks for having me

Welcome!

Others may correct me but I believe your car being a 54 plate will be a BHC not an AMF 😉

Welcome aboard :) Nice photo - in a field at sunset is always going to be photogenic.

It will indeed be a BHC under the bonnet. But this bit about not going overboard spending on it ... nope, don't recognise that one at all! 🤔

In the first couple of years of owning my (first) one, I think I ended up spending over three times what it originally cost me  but in my defence, that got it completely sorted mechanically and upgraded (a long way) to where I want it. It's when the second one comes along that the fun really starts, then the third one ... you have been warned :D

It looks like some idiot (me) remove the rear TDI & A2 badges early on. If memory serves right the badges used to be chrome. I just assumed an AMF as it doesn’t drive to differently to my old arosa tdi.

I am weighing up the 6 speed conversion so fully appreciate that things may spiral @Proghound 👍😂

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

A six speed is one of - if not THE best modification you can bestow on a TDI that will be often used on long journeys travelling at the national limit due to the vast improvement in refinement (much reduced engine noise).

It really does make the car a viable alternative to a modern car for such journeys. Fuel economy will remain about the same as before however so don’t expect to make the investment back from reduced consumption.

Welcome aboard, what a cracking looking car. Speaking as a member of the approval of that particular shade society, mine being Ebony, petrol and called Battersea.
